DR moves up two spots in Corruption Perceptions Index

In 2021 the Dominican Republic moved up two positions in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) with 30 points, leaving behind its record lowest scores obtained in 2019 and 2020. The Dominican Republic is now ranked 128th out of 180 nations.

Participación Ciudadana, the local Transparency International chapter, says that the key to the improvement is strengthening the Attorney General and its Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Chamber of Accounts. Actions taken to prosecute politicians and past and present government officers have contributed to improving the perception of corruption.
