An educated guess would place at least half of the jobs in government in the category of wasteful spending. Nevertheless, the Presidency is submitting a bill to Congress making it easier for government employees to be admitted to public officer careers, the level where the best perks are included and many for life.

As reported in Diario Libre, the changes to Public Employees Law 41-08 would eliminate the category of temporary appointment in administrative career positions and the limit to 55 years for entering this status. It would reduce competition for promotions, regulate teleworking and instate the 14th wage for public servants to be paid in July, among other measures.

The initiative was submitted on 29 November 2022 by the legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, to the Chamber of Deputies.

They've been talking about raising taxes since Luis took office.
The main reason they haven't is because of inflation. Also, had they done
so it would have hurt his chance at a second term. I expect them
to move forward with it full steam as soon as he gets re-elected.
