that is why i expressed equivocation. i was not absolutely certain. i just know it is not Trinidadian.

ha ha, sauerkraut origin is chinese, apparently. but it is a traditional food in many eastern european countries. and western too (france, holland, germany). but polaks would argue about it, just like dominicans with their moro. i am more open. these foods are characteristic to a variety of regions but each nationality gives it personalized stamp.

in regards to morir sonando: i have never heard of mixing orange juice with milk before coming to DR. but come to think of it in poland we have kinda of smoothies, made with fruits (whole, not juice) and sour milk.

I'm not talking about just rice.I didn't say you mentioned it! I brought it up so you can see why the DR calls it Dominincan food just like the Puerto Ricans call it Puertorrican food. whether you like it or not.

Puerto Ricans call pernil Puerto Rican food, because it is roast pork prepared in a very unique manner. it does not taste like Jerk Pork. it does not taste like the Dominican pork that pops up all over at Christmas. i do not, however, hear Puerto Ricans referring to roast pork as Boricua food. not because Dominicans call an orange julius morir sonando means it is Dominican food. i think of Dominican food as something Dominicans created. kinda like a pizza is Italian. or Bird's nest soup is Chinese

orange juice and milk is one of the world's most common drinks. in the USA, it is a julius.

Rice, beans, platanos, etc are the food staples of the Hispanics. Therefore each Latin American country has found unique ways to prepare the same foods. The uniqueness is identified with each country.

most states in the USA prepare pizza differently. NY has their pizza, Chicago has the deep dish, some like thin crust, some thick crust, etc. i hardly think that New Yorkers consider pizza New York food.

But the one made in New York is referred to as New York Style.Like Manhattan Clam Chowder and New England Clam Chowder. Each gained their perspective names because of the way it's prepared.

We do consider NY Style Pizza to be NY food, but not pizza in general.

A good sancocho, white rice and avocado...be still my heart..probably hands down my favorite meal here. I do admit I am not a green plantain lover. Maybe "maduro" or sweet once in awhile, but no green plantain. Never really acquired a taste for it.

Moves to the D.R this summer
Mmm lots of yummy food! But I thought the thing with morir so?ando was that it's made with condensed milk (carnation)? It could be specific to my husband's family to do it like that, but they prepare it the same way at Barra Payan at least.

The oranges here in Sweden are not really right for morir so?ando (they don't taste much) but last week we went to my suegros and made some anyway - delicious! (Even if it only was because we can't remember how it really should taste)
