Hi...you are aware that Karibo is NOT a hotel?
Karibo is just one of several apartment complex,s on White Sands resort.
But if you like being out of town, away from the beach and any possible night life then you have chosen well.
On the plus side they do have "working" buggies to transport you to the beach and quite a nice expensive bar/restaurant.
My advice....if you get a motoconcho into Bavaro check the price before you set off....or if you decide to walk take a torch after dark or risk falling down one of many uncovered sewer holes.
Visit "Steves Bar" where you are sure to make lots of new friends......the girls just love newcomers.
And if you are up early enough join me on the make shift golf course.....I,ll be the one walking the dogs!!!!!

Rick,
drinking for the tour is bsolutely NOT o.k., how can you ask for a selfdriving tour and mention drinking on such?
guests who arrive in the morning still under the influence of alcohol are send back to their hotel without refunds, and during the tour a strict NO-Alcohol policy is enforced til the whole tour is completed and arrived back at the Garage where it started, then the alc can flow.
everything else would be irresponsible and i would not recommend such tour in the first place.
you have to stay sober for one night and the following day, also keep in mind that your drivers(it is done in 4-seater buggies) need to know to drive stick shifters, no automatics available, it is real cars with real manual transmissions, lol.

We rent jet skis and 4 wheelers every where we visit. For example in Juan Dolio we went on a 3 hour trail ride and stopped at several places along the way buying Presidentes and wine. Had a blast. The buggy ride you are talking about looks to laid back for me. Just not my thing. When we party we always drink with control and slam bottled waters also. This is how we can drink from lunch til dawn. Thank you for your recommendation.

Steves Bar. Ok will look for it. But I am married and my wife will be with me. We are very much in love and I do not need another woman. As far as the motoconcho thing that is right up our alley. I have around 15-20 motoconcho cel phone #s in my Iphone from La Vega to Juan Dolio and so on. Do you know of a good place to eat in Bavaro?

that's your style, and of course fine with me, you will find the minbuggy tours(running around the Macao area but sold everywhere in ounta cana) to be more suitable, there you also can have a drink on the ride.
nothing bad with a good time had, but just keep in mind that later complaints are senseless in case accident happens, and of course no insurance covers what happened, as here in the country the drivers license up to date and the alcohol level on zero are the requirements for an insurance to cover, and the same as at home, where they find their loophole, there they use it and away they go.
for that i prefer the tours which go by common sense and keep their guests on the safe side of vacation life.

I googled Punta Cana activities and found the buggy rides and much more. And you are right the customers are raving about the guy Charly and how much fun they had. There is much more to do there than I thought. And yes I am fully aware of the Dominican laws dealing with gringos. The gringo always pays. My wife always bugs the hell out of me to rent a auto from the airport and I explain to her that if there is an accident with a death it will be my fault and it and I would not be able to leave without paying off family of deceased and of course property damage.

Yeah sorry saw your thread re bringing your wife....perhaps Steves bar should be by passed....unless you are here when they have Revolver playing....good Rock Band which plays every 3rd Thursday in the month....the atmosphere is great and its an opportunity to chat to some nice people.
If you need a motoconcho the gate security guy will hail one from under the tree a few hundred yards up the road.
Not much in the way of eating out close by but their are some little places along Av. Espana...not far on motoconcho.
If you fancy slashing out on seafood then a trip to Captain Cook is pretty good and the view is priceless (check your bill tho)
Palma Real shopping village also has a few eateries and a good supermarket.
A visit to Manati nature park is a great half day out...the guides are lovely and you can interact with many of the wildlife species.....its NOT a zoo and the owner is a true animal lover (transport is free)
