Hurricane Hunter Will Tell.

No name YET! I'm not even planning (yet) to put storm gear out either.

Correct, no name yet.
But it could very well be, that once in the afternon a Hurricane Hunter has investigated the system, it may be upgraded to a TS.

It also depends what chart you look at:
90L: GFS Ensemble Computer Model Hurricane Forecasts | Weather Underground

What I do not like, is, that the path is still to the W (and not to NW).
The latitude position went down a bit.
OCT 12 06 GMT 17.1 N
OCT 12 12 GMT 16.7 N

I hope, it'll soon start to turn northerly, though. :bunny:

It is named Gonzalo already and it is a tropical storm.
Right now we have lots of rain close to La Romana (La Estancia golf course area), not much rain in Bayahibe, but very dark clouds on the south.

Gonzalo on Wednesday

It is named Gonzalo already and it is a tropical storm.

As suspected:
"Preliminary reports from an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance
aircraft indicate that the low pressure system located a couple of
hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands has developed into
Tropical Storm Gonzalo with maximum winds of 40 mph."

For us in Saman? it is estimated that Gonzalo will pass on Wednesday around noon at a distance of approx. 250 km. If this is correct nothing severe will come out of it... :)

snowbird ,
The current Track of Gonzalo will take it about 250 miles NE of Puerto Plata which will be well out of the wind field of the weather. If your coming from Europe you might have a bumpy flight but thats all. Closest approach occurs 5:00 am Wednesday 15th October.

Thanks for the update Sabra and Olly. We are coming from Ottawa tomorrow and I hope it won't be too bumpy!

i do not remember a Hurricane Season running as smooth as this one 2014.
there was nothing to be worried about, Sea Conditions been fine for fishing All Summer long.
thats the way the trend can stay for the next decades to come, no complaint from my side about it.

Thank God for small favors Mike! Did miss your posts though :)

Guess it's time to close this one, before we know it we'll have 2015 Hurricane Season open.
