In a major blow to international drug trafficking, Dominican authorities have seized 310 packages of suspected cocaine at the Caucedo Port in Boca Chica, half an hour east of the capital city. The joint operation was carried out by the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), the Customs Agency (DGA), and the Port’s Military Security, acting on intelligence reports.

A thorough inspection of a container filled with cotton, en route from Guatemala to Belgium, led to the discovery of the illicit substance concealed within 10 black bags. X-ray scans confirmed the presence of the drugs.

This seizure marks another significant victory in the Dominican Republic’s ongoing battle against narcotics. So far this year, authorities have confiscated over 26.1 tons of drugs. With international cooperation, this total has risen to a high 56.4 tons.

Really makes you wonder why the PLD had such a low confiscation rate by comparison.

They report it is a significant victory in the ongoing battle against narcotics. Thankfully they do not have the surrender and wave the white flag mentality.

It is a useless war on drugs, but they will carry on causing as much harm as good.

Can you point out a decrease in such drug usage anywhere because of this war? I am sure you cannot.

Windy, please explain how they are causing harm. We know you feel it is a useless effort, but what harm is caused?

1) Innocent people are robbed by those who want money to buy illegal drugs. Others are caught in crossfires of warring drug gangs.
2) Drug addicts are put in jails at great expense to society instead of being treated for addictions. Instead of treatment, overdoses on drugs are going up and up.
3) Government officials are corrupted by the huge amount of money to be made. There are constant stories of government officials and police being arrested and replaced because they are involved in dealing drugs. The money is too hard to resist.
4) Drug usage is up, not down...

But I think JLSawman is asking what "harm" the "useless war on drugs" (as you repeatedly call it) is doing. Surely seizing 310 packages of cocaine is doing no harm to anyone except the smugglers.

The harm being caused is caused by the war on drugs. Please read what I just posted and see for yourself

Or just Google "Failed war on Drugs"

I did read your post and that's why I replied to it. Apart from point 2, I don't see how any of your points are caused by the "war on drugs". Anyway, I'm not going to get into a backwards and forwards with you, as I know you always want to have the last word.

I said I didn't want to continue this back and forth, but since you ask a direct question, no, I didn't read the links. There aren't enough hours in the day. I was replying to the specific points that YOU made, not to the articles you quoted.

Most of the free world has drug laws, thankfully! Those that choose to partake do so at there own risk. Nothing is more entertaining than a loser drug dealer getting 10 years and all of his assets seized. As far as the addicted losers are concerned, that is why drug screening has become so routine. Keep them out of the workplace and away from the rest of the civilized population.

Then you cannot possibly understand the problems the failed war on drugs causes and why it will never ever work.

With the continued war on drugs we will simply see the continued drug busts touted as somehow significant, frequent arrests of government officials and police involved in trafficking drugs, huge populations of users in jails instead of getting medical treatment for addiction and no shortage of drugs available for those that want to use them.

50 years into a failed war. But some still think prohibition is working.
