Quake felt in Punta Cana. And my better half woke up in extreme panic.
Surprisingly, yours truly was as calm as a cucumber, even though if it was the strongest tremor I've ever felt.
I kinda trusted the building's construction.

“Hey, Lucifer, it’s ‘cool as a cucumber,’ not calm.”
“You’re neither the brightest knife nor the sharpest bulb, Luci.”

Yes, quite a jolt. Indeed!
It turned seconds into minutes. Thought it was never gonna stop.

Do they have a tsunami warning system in DR, via SMS or siren etc....?
Other than thousands of people running out in the streets screaming?

The last time we felt one here where I live, all of my neighbors were standing around outside in the parking area.

I finally walked out and gave them the "all clear", and they all went back inside.

The thing about tsunamis is that you may never feel anything where you are regarding what causes the tsunami. And then the water just comes and takes you away.

That happened to people I had tea with in Sri Lanka some years ago. And so it goes.

I remember when the Haitian quake shook DR, we were at our house at Playa Najayo. There was an immediate tsunami alert in the media, we received calls from half the family in SD telling us to get out of there fast (my elderly mother-in-law was with us). We locked the door and headed to SD, problem is much of the roadway is not far from the sea, so we drove with one eye forward and one to the right.
