If it is an AI it will not be guest friendly....unless you register her and pay the fee.

Ramesses you know the locality well from your regular postings so perhaps you can help some readers.

Do mongers as a rule take the risk and invite 'unknown hookers off the street' back to their holiday hotel or apartment or do they 'go with the flow' and go to the hooker's friendly known cheap hourly paid hotels in your town? What is the wise advice?

Do they now need some new guidance from more experienced DR1ers in view of the current delinquency afflicting the country?

Then what will the day pass cost?

I guess that's always a possibility, but if it is a high end/family resort, most mongers won't be willing to pay the price and I think the majority of those there that might be looking for company will take them elsewhere, and I think most are not just looking for "matinees". There's always eceptions.

Let's call a spade a spade here, Miss Cardew (see "The Importance of Being Earnest" for the reference). It's not guest-friendly. It's chica-friendly.

And OK: if they can provide a cedula or Heaven forfend! a passport, and you register them, with luggage, then yea.

When I was at the no-chicas hotel I managed for the first 3 years I was here, we turned away a lot of guys who couldn't live with that rule. But there were one or two who arrived in town, found a companion, bought her a Minnie Mouse suitcase on PC somewhere, and produced "papers" of some sort. Turned out fine. They never left the room. Solved my problem, as I didn't want even registered whore boobs bouncing around in the pool.

I agree totally, cavok. Whorendoggers want to spend every dollar/euro/peso on snatch. So if it turns out to be high-end (which in Sosua is not so alto), the chica-seekers will not be interested.

And re: matinees. There are always exceptions. And we have places in Sosua to get that done. It's pretty amazing. I have an opinion about the local industry, but not a judgement.

Too add my 2 cents considering this my first post. I don't know a whole lot about Sosua and all that's happening. What I give you is a point of view from a 50 year old monger. I have only been to the DR once I am about to take my 2nd trip in January. The first time I choose to come to the Puerto Plata area I stayed in an AI but came mainly because of the sex tourism and my love of beautiful Latinas. I have traveled the world my preference is to stay amongst the people whose country I visit. I am fluent in Spanish and at 6'4" 250lbs of mostly muscle I don't scare much. But I enjoy peaceful hassle free situations. I choose to stay at an AI for mainly the convenience. As a hard fast rule of traveling I rarely take them back to my room regardless more of a safety precaution why get ripped off. I prefer brothels or such, last trip I made many trips to Cristols and field of dreams. I feel more comfortable with the situation there, I am unsure if I would go to Sosua since I travel alone and love to drink. Because of the stories I have heard about the dangers. I am staying in Cabarete this time around because of research I feel it's safer and more my speed. I will definitely be seeking the company of a beautiful Chica, but would again prefer a brothel situation. Speaking to friends they feel the same if the area could show its safer and still offer sex tourism but more discreetly say in red light districts like in Europe I think it would benefit all.

Dov1984 is exactly the kind of sex tourist whom "the powers that be" are trying to drive away from Sosua. (He is going to Cabarete...... )

There is no plan mentioned anywhere by any government officials to create red light districts. Those in charge are not interested in promoting the DR as a sex tourist destination.
The war on whores seems to have the aim to drive prostitution out of sight in order to attract non-sex tourists and retired people. Period.

The problem is, that the government thinks that non-sex tourists and retired people will put up with the same sub par accommodations and attractions. The upgrades so far, you could hardly call them upgrades.

As far as retirees go, the area really needs a proper hospital for starters.

Dov1984 has never been to Sosua and has no intention of going, but his reason for not going is "Because of the stories I have heard about the dangers", nothing to do with government actions, closing bars/clubs, closing early etc...

Unless increasing dangers in Sosua and not making it safe IS part of their actions - in that case, well done. See how that helps other type of tourists who might think of visiting the place.

The new work, recently stopped, at La Esplanada, is reported to be a higher end tourist resort.
As for the sleaze bag hotels that currently exist, they will either be replaced or be shuttered if the government has its way.

The President of the DR is great at building schools (albeit with no teachers and little equipment). Regarding the hospital, please note we are talking about a public hospital.
Perhaps he can at least build a structure and call it a Hospital some time soon. Where the Doctors would come from to work in a public hospital is another story. The retirees would virtually never use such a hospital. If you have ever been to a public hospital in the DR you would understand why retirees would hope to never enter one.

As has been stated before, in order to have urban renewal, there is pain along the way. Having faith that anything is done well here is folly.

I am talking about a hospital that can take care of the older visitors and retirees. CMC does not fit the bill.

Yes, I have been in a few of the public hospitals, for myself and my Dominican family.

Tourists and retirees have different interests and priorities. Sosua would do well to pick one and meet those needs first then concentrate on the other group. It doesn't take much for the politicos here to bite off more than they can chew and end up achieving very little if anything at all.

I have yet to see any sort of fleshed out short or long term plan enunciated other than a vague Utopian dream. Many of these issues are multi-year endeavors and unless provisions are made for some sort of continuity to see a plan to fruition, a change of Govt will bring everything to a grinding halt mid stride. How long did it take to redo a couple of sidewalks for two blocks?

....and they did that poorly at best.

The government would almost certainly not be involved in building such a hospital in Sosua.
Such a project would have to come from market forces regarding supply and demand.
That is my opinion.

I agree. Does the government just hope someone builds it? This whole affair seems to be based on a wing and a prayer....not a plan.

I have never seen any mention of a new hospital for retirees mentioned in anything I have read here in the DR.
Hence, no mention of "hope" or even "desire" that someone would build such a hospital. No plan.

How can you target retirees and not have a plan for proper health care availability? So it is even worse then, no plan = ignorance.
