Both the location and the food at that Indian restaurant were bad. I do agree about the need for good Asian restaurants like Indian or Thai.

I like to eat vegetarian 3/4 days, so I'm always cooking up southeast Asian curries. The Dominicans love the smell, but to a person, they refuse to try it. I think it's that the vegetables haven't been cooked to a crisp or paste, so they fear the food would bring on GI troubles. They will eat a salad, but they refuse "partially" cooked vegetables. I guess it's like chicken feet to gringos.

It would need to be a gringo driven restaurant.

How about Mexican? Would love to see a place serving nachos etc. in Sosua.
It's hard here even to get guac and chips out and the avocados here are amazing.

We had two. One called Chichi's and the other called Three Amigos. Both did not do well as the food was awful.

The new hotel (ex Esplanada) is going incredibly fast.Lots of workers clocking in and out,7 days a week, all day and seemingly actually organised to a plan of sorts.
I don't think I've ever seen such industry and energy before in this town so ,if they keep it up at that rate it may well open as planned.
Of course, this is the breaking-down phase which always goes quick but I'm impressed with the effort.
When they've done there maybe we could get them to fix the rest of the town?

I'm wondering if they intend the top end of town to become the party place, away from the golden mile (300 yards) in the centre which seems destined to be the restaurant town.
If they open the Playa Chiquita casino nightclub.High Caribbean and the new hotel and maybe a revised Passions that could work.
Might be a good time for somebody to think about re-opening the old Rancho Tipico..
(Not me,I already gave..)

Or until they spend all of the investors money. So far they have been good at doing that.

With several friends in the restaurant biz, they always suggest avoiding anything advertising "ground meat." Because it can be any kind of meat, from beef to donkey to I-cannot-conjecture.

Unless in a more upscale place where they state clearly on the menu that the meat is USDA or whatever it is from Canada-approved. There is one place in Sosua where I will eat a burger. One.

File that under "other reasons" for a failed business, not the war on whores in this case.

I had stated they needed to go back to Canada. On a separate note, in agreement with some of the other folks, a decent Thai, Vietnamese, or Indian restaurant could probably make a go of it

The Ahnvee Resort & Sport, a five-star all-inclusive 144-suite hotel in Sosua – on the country’s north coast – will officially open in January 2017.

Its facilities, both the rooms and the gymnasium, have been designed to attract top-level athletes.

The hotel will feature three full-service restaurants, two swimming pools with bars, and a gymnasium.

Guests will also enjoy a whole selection of aquatic, terrestrial and extreme sports, as well as shuttle service to the beach area.

Next to the hotel’s central swimming pool area is the Roam & Crave Restaurant, where guests will enjoy a varied menu of local dishes, excellent meats and fresh seafood, including lobsters.

Although closed for many years, the hotel was recently purchased a group of U.S. investors.

I can't wait to read the excuses in January to why it's not completed and open. 6 weeks to go.
