<<A mi me daba pena y vergüenza andar con ese teléfono... pena y vergüenza...>>.
There are Dominicans who guard their "image" and reputation with such fervent passion that it borders on religious zealotry.
Will not be seen as a passenger on a motoconcho.
Will not post photos wearing clothes that they already wore on a previously posted pic.
And will not get caught dead with an older iPhone version.
Because...
<<¿E' que tú te 'tá volviendo loco?>>
<<¿Qué va a pensar la gente de mi?>>.
I'm not so sure about that(?). I think most of them would go w/o food and sleep in the street before they'd ever sell their expensive iPhone. That's their identity. And most of them would know a knock-off from a real one. They know every single detail! An American guy I know bought one of the Chinese IPhone knockoffs for a girl he was um... "getting to know."
When he gave it to her, she went nuts. All jumpy and happy and excited..... Until she noticed it was a knock off.
She did a complete 180. As much as he tried to convince her that people would never notice, she said "ellos sabe"
I told him not to kid himself, The joy comes from having something that can generate a large amount of cash. 5K vs. 60-70K
Dominican being Dominican, those people are the first one telling that the government its bad and they also are passing very bad situation.x.com

Absolutely. Here's a typical scenario, with someone stressed out because his iPhone screen shattered into pieces, and "it's the worst thing that could happen to an individual. No one has suffered a loss of such magnitude."Dominican being Dominican, those people are the first one telling that the government its bad and they also are passing very bad situation.
There is a girl that has worked in many of the Sosua bars for years and I always see her selling stuff on marketplace on FB and although she is has a boyfriend, I think that she also partakes in 'extra curricular activity'. She always has the latest phones for sale, A/C units, fridges, stoves and furniture. I can only imagine that she talks he 'friends' into buying her stuff with some sob story, the 'friend' buys her whatever, and then she puts them for sale on FB. Some people are so gullible and she is taking advantage of that fact!! I have yet to see her sell a car so she needs to up her game a little!I'm not so sure about that(?). Worst thing is that some guy spends 1 k and she sells it maybe for 300$ the very next day. There is a girl that has worked in many of the Sosua bars for years and I always see her selling stuff on marketplace on FB and although she is has a boyfriend, I think that she also partakes in 'extra curricular activity'. speaking of I phones...just returned from the USA where a relative gave me one.. less than a year old and never used.. its sits unused in my house as I still use my old LG....Unfortunately, this is how many Dominicans think and, the poorer they are, the more they think like this. Having the most expensive iPhone in the barrio is a status symbol to them and makes them "special". Or, so they think anyway.
Depending on the model, it would be pretty easy to sell for a good price if you were interested.speaking of I phones...just returned from the USA where a relative gave me one.. less than a year old and never used.. its sits unused in my house as I still use my old LG....
What's so special about it ???? Give me one $ for every guy that drives a expensive car and spends 10,000 peso every weekend on alc but "does not have enough" $ to support his children(s) and i do not need to work a single day in my life anymore.
They speak Spanish, don't they? Why is someone writing in English here? At first I thought that there would be news about the new iPhone in X.
