Hey, To?ito, don't be shy now.

By the way, is Carew Latino? I know he was born in Panama, but...

Question to the real fans (Cleef, Larry):

Is Robbie Alomar a potential Hall-of-Famer? How 'bout Bagwell, Biggio and Larkin? And the Crime Dog? The Big Hurt? Glavine?

I mean, with players like Aparicio and Cepeda in Cooperstown, shoudn't guys like Alomar, Larkin and McGriff join them eventually?

Joseito, unfortunately, you are talking National League guys and even though I have an opinion on most of them, I feel much more comfortable talking about the American League. Anyway, I will discuss Robbie Alomar. I don't know what happened to him when he went to the Mets. I remember telling a Met fan who asked me what Alomar was like after the trade and before his first season with the Met's and I told him I thought Alomar was one of the top 3 or 4 players in the game. I remember telling him, "he will take a base hit per game away over at second he is so good". And man could he hit. Anyway, reguarding the hall, I don't know after those lousy years with the Mets. McGriff? I don't know. Should 500 homeruns be a benchmark for entrance? I don't think so. Not anymore.

Well, I consider myself to be well-versed in all things 'junior circuit,' too.

So how 'bout F. Thomas and Tony's guy, Palmeiro? Mart?nez from the Mariners?

Palmiero is a lock. If you don't think so just look at his numbers. He is an absolute lock.

Frank Thomas, I don't think he will get in. His career has fizzled and he has dropped off the radar.

Edgar Martinez, I think he would eventually get in. I know being a career long DH goes against him but he has compiled some very nice numbers over the years. I definately put him ahead of Frank Thomas anyway.

JMHO,

Larry

HOF is a Fraternity

Alomar maybe. He was one of the best defensive players to ever put on a mitt. The end of his career has been pretty bad, but the longevity may help him in the end.

Bagwell and Biggio I don't think will make it because they've never really won anything and those feathers in the cap go a long way to helping admission. Biggio has played 3 positions and been an All-Star at all 3 (I believe, maybe not as a catcher).

Larkin is a similar situation to Alomar, but I'd give Robbie the edge (sorry Larry).

Fred McGriff, even if he hit 500 HR's might be a stretch. 500 isn't what it used to be.

Big Hurt is doubtful, but he was having a tremendous comeback season this year, but he's on the edge as well. He had a run for a few years where he put up incredible numbers, but so did my main man Jim Rice and he'll never get in.

Glavine I'd guess will get in. He's won a lot of games as well as some HUGE games, he's had longevity and is well known.

Considering the voters, it's more of a popularity contest than many would admit.

Without Jim Rice in the Hall, I don't consider it as legitimate as it may be. There have been some very questionable admissions.

Larry,

I agree on Tony's guy, Palmeiro, getting inducted on the first ballot. And I also believe that the 500 HR club will be very crowded in the near future, thus reducing its mystique, with Thome, Juan Gonz?lez, Bagwell and A-Rod joining the ranks in the next 3 or 4 years.

Cleef,

If Cepeda belongs in the Hall, then so should Rice, whose numbers were better. Had he played in the '75 Series, the Sox would've won it.

Where's Golo when we need him?

He'd re-energize this with some more Dominican related material.

Big brother is going to close this thread if we don't Dominicanize it a bit more.

Golo naylu?

Well, after Manny whips A-Rod, he follows Pedro and Sosa into the Hall. Then several years later, he's joined by Vlad and Pujols.
