it is clear you never served Tota! The Westgate mall response was a military operation and a disaster. US troops will not be in Haiti to assist Kenyan troops. Doesn’t matter who trained them. They are on their own in one of the most dangerous countries in the world. A country other countries with more capable militaries avoid like the plague because of the dangers. It ain’t Kansas Toto!

My Haitian gardener speaks three languages, including creole. I would say that makes him pretty educated. I should think there are a larger proportion of Haitians than Americans that can speak three languages. No, Just the ones that are not recognized by educated people.
and yet he is still a gardener. My Haitian gardener speaks three languages, including creole. I would say that makes him pretty educated. I should think there are a larger proportion of Haitians than Americans that can speak three languages.
Surely you were a great servant, albeit a pawn in the military-political scheme.it is clear you never served Tota!
And look what happens when a force that has some control leaves. If they want a solution, someone has to stay there, forever, to keep things in order with overwhelming force. And that, is just not going to happen. That is why I said they could never leave. It sounds a bit like Hotel California! But why do you say that? Forces that went there before, such as the UN force that went there after the 2010 earthquake, were able to leave. (And yes, I know they left a lot of problems behind them.)
Feel good voluntourism at it's worst. I agree. The foreign Christian missionaries operating in the DR supporting and building for Haitians,
Do more harm than good to the DR.
Just go outside any barrio and see huge illegal Haitian settlements.
Amazing the DR allows this to happen.
mushroom tea huh!! Vienna?? It's amazing that that place is still there after the allied forces leveled it in ww2Surely you were a great servant, albeit a pawn in the military-political scheme.
No doubt you fought for freedom and democracy, possibly pushing some other pawns on the political chess board aside.
At least the brain washing worked on you.
Now you call yourself proudly, Big.
A humble servant.
Our team of psychiatrists in Vienna has come to their conclusion.
You may not know it but Kenya and Africa while under self government are corrupt,
Being governed along tribal lines, with those in power stealing 100's of millions in offshore accounts.
Selling out Africa to the highest bidders.
Supporting autocrats like Chi Ping, Putin and Wagner mercenaries.
Yet, if the DR can save money for their own people and somewhat secure their borders it's great.
The DR does not have financial resources to pay for illegal Haitians whether overcrowding clinics and hospitals or in other areas.

people love to do things that make them feel warm and fuzzy. People refuse plastic bags now because they believe they are helping save the planet.Feel good voluntourism at it's worst. I agree.
Correct, and he is capable of so much more. But I'm sure you don't realise how difficult it is for a Haitian national to get a good job here, despite the fact that he is here legally.and yet he is still a gardener.
well, he is a gardener. and tri lingual, I guess he is almost a biomedical engineer.Correct, and he is capable of so much more. But I'm sure you don't realise how difficult it is for a Haitian national to get a good job here, despite the fact that he is here legally.
Maybe you haven’t noticed, but it’s very difficult to get a good job for many more people, not just Haitians.Correct, and he is capable of so much more. But I'm sure you don't realise how difficult it is for a Haitian national to get a good job here, despite the fact that he is here legally.
I'll guess he would compete with all the ex covids doctors here on DR1 and the self professed lawyers also here on DR1.well, he is a gardener. and tri lingual, I guess he is almost a biomedical engineer.
I agree. I know that there is real unemployment among Dominicans. Also that it's extremely difficult to get any sort of job in Haiti - that's why so many want to come here for slightly better prospects. Although my guy is capable of more, he is lucky to have a job working for me as a gardener/handyman and for several others, part-time. That's why he has been working for me for 13 years. I only referred to him because "Big" said that Creole is only understood by the uneducated and he is not stupid, speaking three languages.Maybe you haven’t noticed, but it’s very difficult to get a good job for many more people, not just Haitians.
Oh sure, most of the good jobs in the DR are held by Dominicans, but there are many more Dominicans in the DR that want a good job (and have the education, the skills and the will) and don’t have one vs Dominicans that have a good job. The pie isn’t big enough for all Dominicans, much less for anyone else.
And that Haitian that wants a good job in the DR and doesn’t have one, isn’t able to get a good job in Haiti either. Before the issue with the gangs, available good jobs were already scarce there, more than in the DR. Ask any Haitian with the skills for a good job in the DR if they had a good job in Haiti? Prepare to hear no a lot.
At times it sounds like the DR is the Caribbean version of Switzerland where most people live well and the Haitians can’t get a good job not because they are scarce, but because the Haitians are not allowed to get those jobs. Plenty of Haitians working in Dominican farms and in construction. Many of them wouldn’t be there if the jobs were not there to start with. It’s tough to hire people for positions that don’t exist.
