President Luis Abinader was in San Cristobal on 14 July 2021 for the inauguration of a new supermarket, the Supermercado Ines. The San Cristobal is already served by a Sirena megastore.
The new branch of Supermercado Ines is located at 72 Juan Pablo Duarte Street, Cruce Madre Vieja Sur. The management said they created 400 direct jobs with the opening of the new branch.
During the inauguration ceremony, Teudis Aquino Cordero, chief executive of Supermercado Ines thanked President Abinader for his presence at the inauguration and said he had full confidence in his vision, business experience and perseverance to lead the country on a better path. The Aquino Cordero family have been in the supermarket business for 40 years.
President Abinader was accompanied by the governor of San Cristobal, Pura Casilla and the senator for the province, Franklin Rodríguez.
