"Abinader called for opening doors to more Dominican migration in Italy."

How about focusing on keeping the talent and what little skilled labor this country has...

Exactly! Stuffing a quart of shite into a pint bottle doesn’t make for long term progress. Overpopulation and the social and cultural problems that come with it, overcrowding and disease, increased crime rates up 800% since 2013 according to an post a few months ago, increasing failure of water and electricity delivery infrastructure, high rates of vehicle related deaths due to traffic congestion, environmental impacts such as major flooding in overpopulated areas, poor literacy rates, will continue to overshadow economic development.

The DR population is expected to increase by one million more by 2050. The government needs to start planning for that now. Proper community and coastal development plans and a strong political commitment to them would be a good start. That require politicians with vision. Unfortunately the almighty dollar blurs the vision of many DR politicians and often ends up lining their pockets. Abinader is making a concerted effort to limit corruption and that’s a good start.
