President Luis Abinader has sent the Congress amendments to the 2025 National Budget. There is a request for additional funds to be assigned to the Ministry of Public Health to fund the agreement reached for a 25% hike for public hospital doctors.

Another request is for RD$3 billion to be transferred to the Ministry of the Presidency where the money will be allocated to the National Housing Fund (Fonvivienda). This program is aimed at providing housing for the lower income groups in the Dominican Republic.

The President made note of the fact that his requests do not alter the total amount of the proposed budget, RD$1.48 trillion, or 15.3% of GDP.
