I just wonder if Acai Berry is available in a natural form in the DR?
It suppose to grow in Central and South America.
It's a fruit of a palm tree with many healthy benefits.
Also, what's the name of it in spanish?
Thanks!

Late last year I planted 100 Acai seeds, about 80% sprouted and are growing well, they are now about a 10"-18" high.

Bugs dont seem to bother them, and they seem to hold up to heavy rains ( no rotting issues )

I still have them in the seeding bed, I need to get them transplanted into pots fast. now that I think about it, this sounds like a good weekend project :)

I have not seen them for sale ( plants, seed or frozen pulp ) anywhere in the DR. ( thats why I decided to plant my own ) I even got the commercial "Para Dwarf" variety which is supposed to have berries with 30% more pulp, and lower growing for easier harvest.

Where did you get your seeds? If you buy them from a commercial buyer outside the country, do they get through customs okay?

Just out of sheer curiousity and honing my skeptical vein, I googled "acai berry scam" and got over 2 and a half million hits! ; )

People actually put the word "scam" into the keyword domain name of their sites because it attracts curiosity seekers and then after the people read the TRUTH about how good the acai berry is for them then they buy it. Never judge something because you find the word scam used along with it. It is often a marketing gimmick like I explained above and has nothing to do with the product or service being an actual scam. Hope this helps.
