You figure. The man who appeared in videos that have circulated widely on social media slapping and kicking Santa Arias who had crashed her small motorbike (pasola) into his vehicle now is conditioning his turning himself in. Santa Arias had right of way on the street. The incident involving Alexis Villalona in Baní, Peravia happened after midnight on 31 December 2021, and still the Police has not apprehended the man whose face has been all over the internet.

Over the holidays, Diario Libre reported Villalona’s defense is negotiating his turning himself in with the condition he not be sent to the main jail in Peravia. He fears for his life because of an inmate already interned at the jail.

Breaking news: Apparently Alexis has turned himself in, or has be captured. Just saw it on IG @policiard.

And apparently is going to the same jail he didn't want to go to. This should be interesting.

You heard it here first.

Yep and right on the heels of tough media criticism for General Then. Indicating this guy has the general de burla. That he must be being protected by someone very high up

His last name is the same as the judge who oversaw our case in the DR version of the Supreme Court here. If they are related in any way and the judge likes him, he will walk.
Abinader can't keep up to the corruption here. Gold star for trying but it's like pissing into the wind.

Even if he isn't related to the judge, Dominicans have a tendency to see someone else with the same last name as a distant relative of sorts and with that comes certain considerations that aren't given to other people. This is especially true if it isn't a more general last name (Ridríguez, García, Martínez are examples of general last names in the DR). Some last names are more frequent in certain geographic areas and everyone with that last name is assumed to be related to each other even if a very far kinship. For example, everyone with the D'Alessandro last name are somehow related to each other and from the Santo Domingo area. Not saying he will walk free, but I would not be surprised if he gets a more lenient sentence than otherwise.

You're forgetting one thing, he is in the middle of media hurricane and judges also have to answer to a higher up body (Consejo de Poder Judicial) so there may be checks and balances to what a judge may do. With the notoriety this case has got, I don't see him walking anytime soon. Besides, judges are very very afraid to let women beaters go free nowadays, after the case in San Pedro few years ago, it is in very rate circumstances when a bond is granted instead of preventive custody.

Another macho jerk. Of course, the moment he was arrested he started with the apologies and I was scared song and dance. I hope they threw him in the jail he didn't want.
