I'm not sure it's IP driven. On my chrome browser my Amazon knows I'm in the DR, but my shipping address is in Miami.

I just received a new firestick this week.

But, as I said before, it's a different world when I go to the Amazon web site on Firefox or duckduckgo.
The only one that can change your shipping address is you. But your IP will still be the DR.........Some people in the US order from other countries.............

Amazon won't ship a Fire Stick to the DR. Go figure.

Yep, there are many items they won't send, so the subset is limited but you might find something you want that doe ship directly here.
Lol...that is exactly what I was looking at.

Strange. I see the same site regardless of whether I'm on Chrome, Firefox, or Edge(?). Actually, on the amazon site, you can select your preferred country site.

The site may look different with or without login (it knows your preferences). And maybe (lack of) tracking cookies play a roll too.
With Aliexpress I also get a different page when opened from a link versus with my account, both in Chrome.

You and me both. Same look on Amazon for US and DR addresses.

Gosh, I have no idea how to track my orders on Amazon and see who is delivering (USPS, UPS mostly)...I'm soooo stupid! Come on, maybe just let it go. The horse is alive and well (your post #92)

The camera store across from Jolly Roger's in Sosua sells Firesticks.
I ordered my Firestick and had EPS get it to me.

It is truly mysterious as to what items can be shipped and cannot be shipped to the DR by Amazon from their web site.
No customer support person at Amazon can provide a clear answer to that. One did say he understood the issue and would suggest to management that Amazon show only shippable items to the DR when I use my DR address.

I am looking at doing a couple of test orders. One with free shipping up front to the DR and another one without free shipping up front that Amazon insists they will refund any and all shipping charges even if the shipping is about the same price as a $150 item.

On April 4 I took a chance on Amazon. Two chances actually. I ordered 2 items to be shipped directly to me in Cabarete by Amazon.
A TP link mesh router and a KTC computer monitor. Both under $200 USD, so no import duty charged.

On April 15, both arrived unscathed at my home. No duty and no shipping charges.

They arrrived by moto-concho, of course. About the same time it takes me to get items shipped using EPS, but with no shipping charges.

Now, for items that they ship with a shipping charge added at purchase, will they really refund that shipping charge, will they really refund that money? Anyone else tried that yet? I was assured 3 different times that as a Prime member I would get that refund.

The Amazon web site still has the issue that it will show you items that won't ship to the DR, so you have to work around that deficiency to find items that will ship.

Thanks for the update, Windy.

It would be interesting to know the logistics of your purchase.

What question exactly do you have? I ordered 2 item with free shipping to the DR. They arrived via moto concho. Anything else?
The only difference between that and US orders in the USA was the time it took to arrive and that only a certain number of items are shippable using Amazon to the DR.

Amazon customer support is not aware of how things arrive to the DR. Clearly, this was not a delivery via DHL like others reported, but some private contractor they used here in the Cabarete area. His WhatsApp number shows he has another business, which was a bit suspicious at first, but that all worked out. I spoke to Amazon about that oddity and they told me to use caution, but it was the real deal.

That's pretty much what I was wondering. how did they ship it, who did they ship it to, how did it get to the hands of the delivery guy.

Only someone that is in a different division of Amazon than their customer support people knows that.

Yes, and terrified though I was, I have done it and it was an unqualified success. You have to order at least US$49 and under $200. There are some items they won't send, like perfume (flammable, I guess?) shaving kit (gift for a friend---I guess dangerous?) or for some reason, dried morel mushrooms. I have had the same issue with delivery to my FL courier service, so I don't know the particulars. I was beyond skeptical, but just this once, the planets aligned.

China crap.
Not so.

TEMU is starting to sell items of better quality. My mother purchased a leg messager for her calf muscle aong with an ankle brace from TEMU and both were well-made using quality materials. She's been using it twice a day since August of last year with zero problems. Same can be said about a few items I ordered from them late last year as well.

I joke with mom about it all the time, Uyghurs were excellent craftsmen and with so many of them now "employed" in China's manufacturing sector their overall quality in production has seen notable improvements.

Much of the cheap stuff that China makes is made cheaply on purpose because much of their 1.3 billion population can't afford better quality. Same with all the cheap stuff you find in Chinese stores here. Many Dominicans couldn't afford it if it were of higher quality. They know their market. Think Walmart shoppers, also.
