Fitram tenders tunnels for the train that will connect 27 de Febrero with Las Américas Airport

Tunnels. Not above ground. To start construction this year.

Read the article for phases and map of the route.

Have to say I'm a bit surprised. With all the trouble the transport unions are giving for all advancement that only makes sense and is already in use in 1st world countries, I thought this was a joke. I hope this is a successful project. First Dominican airport with public transport access... I'm happy even though we will likely never use AILA...

Tunnel? Why not on ground? cheaper that way but we'll see.,

Also, I checked, 20 stations? I think it's too much, it should be at least 10 and make it faster for people to go to the airport.

The article says It's 32 kilometers, with 22 km above ground and 10km of tunnel.

Here's another article stating it will start at Centro Olimpico to tie in with the first line of the Metro.

Checking the list with the Stations and locations some do not make sense to me in that order,

• E5 Faro a Colón en las Américas con Av. España
• E6 Darío Contreras próximo a la Av. Sabana Larga
• E7 Parque del Este en la Av. San Vicente próximo a Maquiteria
• E8 Terminal del Este en la Av. Ecológica
• E9 Los Tres Ojos

looks weird route to me in that order, Faro a Colon and Dario Contretas are almost parallel located with like 2 km away.

I'm guessing they don't want people to walk those 2 kilometers.
