Apparently, he left a restaurant and while walking on the sidewalk a car gets close and begins shooting. When the ambulance arrived at the scene, he was dead.

Sounds like a targeted hit.
I wonder if his quest for social justice played a roll?
RIP.

He was Dominican born but a naturalized American citizen. From Lawrence.

There is a fundraiser to have him taken home and buried there. Shameful and disgusting that we live in a world where speaking out against Bolsonaro cost him his life. May he rest peacefully.

Did you read that in the Portuguese language article? My portuguese is limited. I was thinking anything could have happened. It could even have been totally random.

Please be so kind as to provide us with a few news links backing this claim prior to spewing out such fabricated nonsense or knock it off.

If you translate the Portuguese article it clearly says that he has written many books and one book he has written where he's criticizing the president's policies and the suffrage of the people. I doubt this was politically motivated hit , but who knows. I am also very shocked to hear this news, as i knew Lu personally. He was a very good kid.

This Brazilian article from Oct 10 doesn't mention the name of the victim, but it was him given the link to one of the articles. It mentions that an eyewitness said that the victim was killed in front of a Japanese restaurant. The security camera of the restaurant captured the event. Another eyewitness said that a car got close and a person shot him four times, one hit the stomach, one the chest, and two the head. The car was a black HB20 (Hyundai). Apparently, people that knew him say he received threats.

The original article linked provided the information to draw that conclusion, as AZB states in his post.

I didn’t know the guy, but lots here did. Don’t pollute the thread, there’s no need and no point. You knock it off.

No new information, but two hours ago Brazilian Globo made a quick video about this.
