after seeing CC in person, I think I prefer a camel. CC is the sole reason why so many women have turned lesbian.

hahahahaha

CC always brings up the camel in any discussion with me. So here is the real story. I have had it. I will spill the bean right here and now.
So happens CC used to own a camel. who knows what he did with it but he had a camel in santo domingo. he used to ride proudly on it on 27 de febrero avenue. he didn't care a bit whether he caused a traffic jam or accidents. his camel riding afternoons had caused a huge traffic jam all over the center of the city. people cursed him and yelled at him but he didn't care. young people stopped their cars to make a cell phone video of him.
finally I had enough. I went to his house at night and stole his camel.
the next day, CC gets the shock of his life. his camel is gone, stolen. he rushes to the police station to file a report. the police took down the important info, the size and color of the camel but to their surprise, CC couldn't tell whether the camel was male or female? he never cared to check. so the police told him to go home and figure out the sex of the camel as it is vital info in finding the right camel. sure enough CC shows up the next day and says. the camel is female. police asked how does he know for sure? CC says: when I used to ride my camel in the streets people would stop and yell, "hey, look at that big Cu-nt on that camel".

if your son refuses to study in school, show him his future by showing him a picture of CC. Hahahaha
if your dominican daughter refuses to go to university, show her, her future by showing her a picture of a girlfriend of CC (with CC). Hahahaha.
I bet both of these kids will become PHD in no time.

OK "Mama" back to the OP.

Definitely go with Duque de Wellington. It will give you a half of sense of local life here. It is safe, the malecon is two blocks away, el conde is a 10 minute walk or take the publico. Coming back to your hotel at night may seem spooky and dangerous but you can't walk 50 yards without seeing a night armed guard at some building. Whether they have actual bullets I don't know but the fact is you will be safe as long as you don't make yourself a target and walk home ****ey drunk.

Don't arrive with the Ugly American attitude and all will be fine.

Thanks you. Have you also heard anything about Adam Suites in Colonial Zone? I'm stuck at this point between Adam Suites and Duque du Wellington.

Forgive my ignorance. What exactly qualifies a hotel as "gay friendly". I would assume hotels welcome all guests? Or am I being naive?

It is a hotel or place that supports same sex couples, doesn't have to mean they are gay owned. We had no idea the first time we stayed there it was gay friendly until I went to the gym and saw all the pics of the Hot ripped guys. lol
Also the decor in the hotel is awesome, that tipped me off too :D

Anyways it is THE BEST!!! I wanted to steal their maid and cook!

Keep your hands of our Ellie Harleysrock! She is going nowhere.

If the choice is between Duque and Adams Suite, then definitely go for Adams Suites. Way safer, way less sleazy and way better service.

If you stay there, pop over the road to the cafe called Omeraliza and get your lunch, the food looks nasty but tastes delicious. Carmen who runs it is a TV chef.

Please be very careful with the bugarrones, people have been killed by them. No I'm not joking.

OK, it sounds like you are coming here and mainly looking for sex. Be careful, that's my main message. This is not the US, if things go wrong here, you are not going to find police who are helpful or a court system that will be on your side. The "bugarrones" are mainly straight guys who have been sent out by their girlfriends to find money, or need money to finance their drug habits. If you don't pay, they will generally steal things from you. Even if you do pay, some will also steal from you. Because they are generally 100% straight the sex is probably not going to be the best.

Duque de Wellington is about 15 minutes walk, down a dark road, from the gay bars and clubs. Adams Suites is opposite. Adams Suites is in the Colonial Zone, and there are usually police nearby. Duque de Wellington is outside the Zone, and is not going to have police outside. And because of this, Duque tends to attract the sleazier end of the market, tourists who want really cheap sex with really cheap boys.

There is a gay sauna called Apollo which is on Arzobispo Nouel, near to the Cuesta on the Conde, I have been told good things about it. It's also in a safe area, very clean, and a good place to meet local guys.

Just remember, whatever you do, you are in a poor country and often dealing with drug addicts and people who are desperate for money. You might be here to have fun, but you need to be extremely careful. A friend of mine who was extremely intelligent was murdered just before Christmas by a couple of the bugarrones.

Casa Sanchez is gay friendly and an AWESOME hotel. I don't stay anywhere else unless i book too late and there is no room.

It is in the colonial zone but in a quiet area. The owner and his staff are beyond Excellent!! They have a gym across the street with lots of eye candy i am sure you would enjoy ;-)

i personally stay away from owners staff's...
