Fuine for you but the op is not from the DR. They dont have a social circle here.
OP clearly states that the contract was not written in his favor. Is it too much to ask to read what another person has written for a sale of the crown jewels? before you sign it? How difficult is that?If you don't understand spanish then you get a translation. If you don't understand the contract you get up from the table and leave. Is that so hard? You don't need a social circle to understand that. You need common sense.
And then the OP goes on to write some gibberesh about waiting 3 years. Three years? C'mon... I'm sorry that I can't wrap my arms around this one.

In the DR is completely legal to have a contract translated in any other languages preferred by the parties or any party to it.
Both can be declared part 1 and part 2, being one and the same, safe for the languages.
Both can be legalized at the same time of execution.
Pretty normal in companies to do this here in the DR.

Lawyers can be held liable for any loses due to misrepresentation or criminal acts against their clients.

Let him contact Guzman Ariza and sort his problem out.

What do I know? Less than you and thankfully it's your money not mine. Yes 3 years and you still don't have the deal done. True? Yes. Blame it on the DR lawyers. Pitiful. If it make you feel better RANT on my post. Three years mi amigo is a loooong time for a matter that could have been CHANGED AROUND in probably less than 3 months.
Get over it. I'm not you enemy. Go bang on someone else' head......this is a public forum.
Have a good evening.

Never had any such issues with the ones I contracted here.
I have read some of your posts, and it looks like you smoke the same shIt as Abinader and his crew. Your DR is in the same parallel Universe where lawyers are honest, police is good, and monorail trains are going to start cruising soon between SD and Santiago, as soon as they finish with the Dominican Space Station project.

Read a contract . Did I not mention that I do not read spanish and do not comprehend! I was raised as an America , college and all. That is why you hire someone, to represent your interest.

I have found an attorney that has turned things around. So the end is coming

Hi
I am back
Also I am using a reputable firm and nothing is getting done. I believe my paperwork ended up on a notary desk.
10 years in the making , no title as of today. Nobody wants to touch the case. Just yesterday I received an email from her asking me if I heard anything new? Also she told me about a meeting that never happened and a request from her and a company we did not even buy from. Names are getting mixed up . She has no clue.
I need a criminal lawyer... please send me his or her number if you have one.

Meanwhile I am sitting in Texas and all sorts of people living in "my" place, trashing the condo, everything got stolen and there is nothing I can do without my papers.

Now that`s a horror story most people can do without lol

Welcome to the club

I suppose there is a blurred line between corrupt and incompetent with Dominican lawyers . In almost 30 years I have yet to find one that is not ,at least, a tiguere .

"ALL", perhaps can be applied to "all" that you have dealt with, or heard about, in your world of people. In your world of a very limited amount of dealings. "All" is a wide paint brush if you look at like this: Do you suppose all the business leaders and people at high executive levels here in the capital deal with corrupt and incompetent lawyers? My guess is ...no. Would you think EVERY real estate deal, for example, is tainted by corrupt lawyers? EVERY ONE of the deals?. Maybe so...but logically that doesn't make sense to me. Can the top 10 best law firms in the DR, as rated by an outside of this forum board, "ALL" be corrupt?
What I can belive is that probably 99% of expats and gringos get the hosing all the time.
Seriously, "ALL" sounds extreme. A lawless society cannot function. At least not in my opinion. Carry on.

Take it with a grain of salt.
As I'm sure you are aware,
people are more likely to share
there negative experiences than
positive ones when painting with
that brush.
I'm guilty of doing the same thing
when it comes to the PN and yes...
I know they're not all scum, I even have
a friendly relationship with a few who
grew up where I live/ have family living in my neighborhood.
This country has a lot of good decent
people living here unfortunately they allow the bad ones to ruin it for everyone else. Perhaps one day this will change.

Yes. They can all be corrupt.

But this only looking at it from a myopic viewpoint.

I could agree with only 99.9999% being corrupt.
