Anna, I was NOT directing my comment to NALs personally.
I was directing it in a general sense. If DR1 (or NALs) wants to ask a poll question to find out the age difference between spouses , of the people who read DR1, that's fine. But when an editorial question is added AHEAD of the actual poll, that sux.
I'll bet that the Widow Anna Nicole Smith's husband is STILL smiling in his grave, and she has the right to smile as well. Whose friggin business is it what any age difference is, or was?
As a moderator, why the heck aren't you busy defending your readership against idiotically worded questions, or reviewing them BEFORE they get posted, instead of defending THAT?

I'm 22 years older than my Dominican husband. We've been together five years this month and married 18 months. We didn't marry earlier because I was having a hard time getting out of my first marriage to a man 1 year older than me. Our marriage is work sometimes, but when we play (wink wink), we play hard. I think a number is just that when both of you know what you want out of life.

Who read the news article the other day on underage sex in the boarder region where it stated that a high percentage of girls has their first sexual encounters around 10 years old among other different stats?

"age, race, status and what-have-you..."? "privacy of their own homes")?.... what's there to hide? and it's all a public affair anyways. And gossip is a favorite DR pastime, and as the saying goes, "Como quiera dicen". My mother recounts with obvious glee, how when recently married to my father, acquaintances and not-so-acquaintances would confuse each others spouse as her 'father' or his 'daughter'. They are still alive, and will be celebrating their 65th marriage aniversary soon. My own current wife? wer'e going on our eighth year of marriage now, notwithstanding our 37 year age difference.

I found this forum to be very professional, with great information value, well written posts and very good (for the most part) moderators.
This new poll, to me, falls into the "sensationalism" and "gossip" columns that you would find in many of the cheap tabloids.
But, of course, that's only my opinion, and I would never be against something that perhaps, most of the members want to read and or debate.
That's something for the posting member to decide.

Vince1956, don't dissapoint yourself.
This is actually a very successful poll, as far a votes are concerned. 52 votes in a poll that is barely 2 days old is quite something. Sometimes it could take upwards of 3 to 4 days to get that many votes and other times it may not even reach the 30s, let alone 52 votes!
The views could represent multiple views from same members, it's certainly not the absolute number of DR1ers who have visited this thread.
The replies are quite good so far, a few off topic and a few criticisms, but all in all good replies.
Notice, the criticism tend to not be about the poll per se, but rather the first part of the title. Obviously, there is a single word that strucks many peoples nerves.
Peoples nerves are never "struck" when unless they feel victimized or criticized, and for that we can only guess why some people choose to focus on the smaller first part of the title and not so much on the much longer and obvious second part of the title.

All the fuss is just sooo hilarious. Next question should be, can these relationships work when the Dominican half of the pair doesn't think age difference matters much and the non-Dominican half is........well.........touchy.
