Interesting, good to know for future reference... Yeah, we have had no insurance in the DR after Covid so my reference to Universal might be a bit outdated. Back then we found it to be good...
I've had Universal for almost 40 years.
The last time I was in a hospital with a very bad MRSA infection that led to septic shock and pneumonia.
I ate lunch one day, felt like I was getting a bug and decided to go home, and by 4 o'clock I was delirious. One of my employees had called me to see how I felt, got no answer, and sent my driver to check on me.
When he found me, I was incoherent so he got me in the car and took me to the clinic.
So, in the space of 4 hours, I went from "OK" to scaring the daylights out of my doctor because I was out cold, with difficulty breathing and organs shutting down.
My doctor (Pablo Valdez) had me on Linezolid which is a very expensive antibiotic (among other treatments). He had me literally going through 1 IV bag after another to try to bring it under control.
While I was semi conscious, a Universal representative came to visit me, said I responded to his questions, and he insisted that my doctor discharge me, just to avoid paying the hospital charges and antibiotic treatment.
My doctor told him to get lost, and I spent another 5 days under treatment.
Once I was feeling better, My doctor told me he was worried that I would survive because of my condition.
That's why I don't mess around with MRSA infections. But, the Universal Rep wanted me sent home.
