The construction works still ongoing at Km 9 of the Duarte and the heavy equipment at the site are creating worse bottlenecks than in the past. Those headed north or coming from the north are recommended to detour using the bypasses to enter and exit Santo Domingo. While the distance is greater, the traffic will flow and drivers will spend less time in traffic jams.

The Ministry of Public Works has been at the task of renovating the Km 9 key intersection point to enter and leave the capital city since the start of the first term of the Abinader administration.

Too funny. Wish I would have read this article when it was published. Drove down to the Capital yesterday for a few hours with a buddy of mine. Shortly after exiting at km9 to Luperòn it was gridlock the rest of the way down.

It is some of the worst traffic, and chaotic. People trying to merge when there is no room to merge. But traffic in SD is a pain.

So glad I moved to San Cristobal, but it's not much better.

Some times I have to wait for almost a minute to pull out of my driveway.. unless it's in the afternoon around 3 or so.

Then I can usually pull right out.

Traffic in Santo Domingo is crazy now, more crazy than usual. Maybe before Christmas?? I am really thinking of moving to a place like Constanza in the next couple of years, Claro already has fiber optic internet there, not in all areas but at least it's already there... What I actually need is a silent place with fiber optic and EPS or BM Cargo nearby.

A user expressed his outrage at the work carried out by the Ministry of Public Works on the elevated road on John F. Kennedy Avenue, specifically between the intersections with Abraham Lincoln Avenue. According to the complaint, the work was carried out this Friday at 5:00 p.m., during peak traffic congestion hours.

The whistleblower described the situation as an abuse and said that these disruptions usually occur between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., when traffic in the city reaches its peak, aggravating traffic jams and creating chaos for drivers passing through the area.

Authorities are urged to reconsider the schedules for these works and avoid affecting citizens during peak traffic hours.

"Authorities are urged to reconsider the schedules for these works and avoid affecting citizens during peak traffic hours." The authorities don't give a shi*.

And then also a stretch of extra toll road on that part and an increase from 60 pesos to 100 pesos for a sedan or jeepeta

I remember over 60 years ago in Philly, the Walt Whitman bridge had the equivalent of Paso Rapido toll booths. They were called "Exact Change" lanes. There was a big basket where you could throw any combination of coins in. You only had to slow down enough to throw the coins in the basket. I'm convinced if Dominicans lived in Philly back then, it would have been a total disaster with huge traffic jams just like here. There weren't any morons going through the exact change lanes and the machines worked.

No traffic would be flowing even faster. In those days there was NO gate. You just throw in money or give air and drive. A bell would go off for 2 seconds. Garden State Pkwy had the same set up. Would never work here as many just kept going without paying......And no cameras to get the license plate.........

I don't know about the GSP or NJ back then, but that mentality just didn't exist in Philly when I was there. And there was a police car parked on the other side of the toll booth, so you wouldn't get far if you tried to go through w/o paying.

Despite the thousands of dollars that go through that toll here, the government would never "splurge" and post a patrol car there to catch those who try not to pay. Also, the toll for cars now is what - 60 pesos? There's a shortage of change here. Most drivers would never have enough change. It would have never worked here.

yeah that would cut into their profits hence the reason the roads and Punta Cana are turning to poop
