Been there but sorry to say not my favourite spot. Small, gets really hot and the place gets really messy, floor full of bottles and liquor it looks a mess half way through the night. Music great as my favourite Cana Dulce does some DJ playing. They play a mix, salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and hip hop too. But like I say you have to try it yourself at least once to judge for youself.

I've been to this place. It's nothing special but suits its purpose if your in need to party to some reggaeton, merengue and bachata. It caters to a younger crowd. Being 21 its alright, but sometimes I find it a tad too ghetto on some nights and not to my liking.

Clubs in Toronto

I've heard of many of these, a lot younger crowds, I've been to some. There has been shootings at the Jane and 7 club. Jane and Wilson (scary area).

Thanks for link! Good info!!

Here's another link: http://www.salsato.com

I'm not crazy about Babaluu's but they play some good music there. Sunday is a good night. Back when I had to have my fix, I would go there and every other club in Toronto.

You can dance on Tuesday night at Babaluu's one of the busiest nights for salsa addicts, but now with Six Degrees some of the crowd have moved over. (I've never been there but my girlfriends from El Salvador like it. Live music.). I'm not sure about sankis at Babaluus :) you would have to point them out to me. But there are some snobs there that only dance with each other. I use to care, I don't anymore I usually BYOP and if I meet other people that I know bonus. Wednesday is also hardcore salsa, on Thursday they start to play some merengue, reggaeton and bachata along with the salsa. I tend to go on Thursday since some of my friends don't dance salsa.
Friday and Saturday the crowd gets younger and they add some hip hop to the mix.

There's a Greek restaurant on the Danforth "Myth" that places salsa on Thursday, I haven't been there but some people really rave about it. I used to go to El Rancho every Thursday but it seems dead now on Thursday nights. But El Rancho is one of my favourites, it's more of a latin club that a salsa club and the clientele includes drinkers, dancers and hunters from all nationalities. It's a dump but I find the people pretty friendly and they like to dance with everyone. They have 2 levels in the club so if you don't like what they're playing upstairs you can move downstairs.

I've been to Magnate but there were only 6 couples there and a few guys at the bar when I went... and I found walking through a metal detector kicking of weird. I didn't like all the dry ice and stobe lights! Las Brisas, I've only been there on Saturday night with the classic Colombian salsa. Very nice, mature crowd, but I can't see myself walking in there alone or with a bunch of girlfriends. El Rancho es mi novio! I always have fun there. Mature crowd... I'm mature. When it closes I go over to Plaza Flamingo for a little more dancing.

I'm not Dominican but I love to dance and I just got back from my first trip to the DR. (Sadly I stayed on the resort because I was too paranoid of sankis.... sometimes it doesn't pay to read all the posts on DR1. :glasses: )

Don't forget there's a Hispanic Fiesta coming up at Mel Lastmans Square if you live in Toronto. Cafe Cubano and Cruz will be there.

I heard that Alex Bello is going to be at the Hispanic Fiesta too. I checked the site and all they listed was various Latin music, no names or anything. A couple of years when they had the tribute to Celia Cruz there was a specific date indicated. So if anyone has any information on when Alex Bello is going to perform can you post it please.
