I think you posted the same picture twice big guy.
When I had the farm in Puerto Plata, I had the "Malla Haitiano" - the cactus boundaries a lot of folks use. That really slows down invaders.
I'm surprised your bamboo hasn't grown much in a year WW.

If you cut the tops.... those trunks will not grow up
New shoots from the bottom will
What has happened over the year is it has filled in.... better screen
Was a bit opaque last year.... height has not increased.... but will w/ the new growth from the bottom

This hedge is for privacy.... my other property has the cactus hedge...

I used all of them..... they all took..... haven't noticed any mosquito increase
We built a bed.....palm trunks for the retainers & then put in the good soil

As reported above - I have planted bamboo - big bamboo...... 20ft high... 50 plants
1M root structures - more - non-invasive Gracilis type
Once trimmed , those stalks will never get higher....
you wait for new growth from the bottom - which I now have... new shoots towering above the originals
Easy to grow... you can buy shorter plants but mine was an emergency -
a neighbor after 10 yrs of solace.
Absolutely a screen.... NOTHING to see

$50 each my big ones
