yeah... thought it Was a wrap
but
Good People ABOUND in #Haiti

Of course, I know there are many, many good people doing wonderful things in Haiti. I wrote "good people with clout". The people pictured here don't have enough clout to get the attention of the elites, the politicians, or the puppet masters in a way that will change the government for the better. Some of them are probably afraid to even go to the polls and vote!
On another note, there seem to be a lot of posts in this thread that have strayed from the original news article posted. I would appreciate it if the admin would start a new topic in the Haiti Forum just for Haiti News and Politics.

Very few Haitians speak perfect French or French for that matter
Well not many Haitians you encounter here have much formal or secondary education. Those that do ( for the most part ) have studied both French and Spanish and speak both languages fluently. And even recognize the difference between Quebecois French and Francais French.

But your typical gardener or construction worker ? I agree

In country (Haiti) the amount that speak usable French is a fraction of the population. That's part of the problem.

"go to the polls and vote"???
is the issue... There is no way that Haitians could vote now.. No Electoral Council.. No cards..
But perhaps not a topic that others want on this thread

This is intentional
To only speak a language that a few people understand
keeps the poor poor
so there are lots of peasants
The #USPeaceCorps closed its operation in #Haiti around 2005 - after #Aristide... Most of the international aid money - from organizations such as https://www.padf.org supports HUGE salaries for Americans who live like kings in their foreign outposts -- As in Africa.

https://www.savethechildren.org has a horrible record in #Haiti - when I was in the DR - their ENTIRE operation was sending 15 Haitians to school in the Dominican Republic (got it from a Direct Phone call from their offices in somewhere in Latin America..

The UN was doing research on "What beans would grow in #Haiti" - while across the border in Elias Pina, Dominican farmers were bringing trucks of beans and dumping them on the steps of Congress in StoDom to protest the lack of processing/canning plants for their products.

The entire "foreign aid" Merry Go Round --

But - there are some roads/infrastructure big protects that need international assistance

https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-l...wer-prestige-and-corruption-international-aid

Don't hear of ANY country paying TEACHERS? to go there??? to support education

(goddess knows I could go On and On)

I despised STC when I was there. Drove around in super expensive SUVs and never saw them do any work. Ever!🤢

They are now running ads in the US - what I call "poverty porn" - on the "starving children in Africa" -- Those of us who have seen their work on the ground Would Not Give them a Dime....let alone the $9.95 a month or whatever.....

In terms of people with CLOUT https://www.moniqueclesca.com

Ms. Clesca has written for "Foreign Affairs" and appeared here in the US on MSNBC

I am honored that she follows me on Twitter - (as does US Senator AmyKlobuchar)
