Mary Mallon (1869-1938) was an Irish born American cook who is believed to have infected 51 to 122 people with typhoid fever. What the Holee Faque are you talking about ?
No.I would like to know if there is a parallel in the DR to America's so called Typhoid Mary.
Slinger what exactly are you asking? Is there some disease in the DR that would cause your daughter to get sick often?
Like the person who they say was the carrier of typhoid?I think he wants to know if there is a Dominican equivalent of a Typhoid Mary.
This is from 2018:Are we still getting typhoid?
Change in climate? Our kids always fall apart with gripe immediately when landing to EU...My Dominican wife and her two daughters are here in the States for awhile.
One of the hijas gets the grippe routinely often......
I would not ask that of a Dominican girl, even joking around. Their mindset is very different than what you are used to.Whooosh. Not wanting to bore you, but.......

One of the hijas gets the grippe routinely often...... and so with my twisted sense of humor (overactive, I admit) I wanted to humorously accuse her of being related to the famous T.M. But I didn't know if any of them would understand it. So I asked here.
I can understand that without sufficient preamble the confusion I've caused. Lo siento.
Was accused of engagement farming in an earlier deleted post. Lookit when I joined here and see the number of posts.
An example of why I don't frequent these kinds of sites frequently.
Blue skies and green lights to all!
I can't begin to give my take on CDC and vaccines because with my track record, I don't want another love note from Carlos 🤣
No so much about the CDC but I guess you can get typhoid in the DR based on what the article says:I can't begin to give my take on CDC and vaccines because with my track record, I don't want another love note from Carlos 🤣
Over 20 years, I drank tap water many times, brushed my teeth with tap water and bathed with regular city water. No typhoid, but I did just have to have my gallbladder removed. No so much about the CDC but I guess you can get typhoid in the DR based on what the article says:
You can get typhoid through contaminated food or water in the Dominican Republic. CDC recommends this vaccine for most travelers, especially if you are staying with friends or relatives, visiting smaller cities or rural areas, or if you are an adventurous eater
I agreeI would not ask that of a Dominican girl, even joking around. Their mindset is very different than what you are used to.
She would not forget it.
While we obviously do not drink tap water, we have always brushed the teeth, the kids including, with tap water and my MIL apparently sometimes prepares morning coffee with obviously boiled tap water, never issues. I have tried sometimes to take a habit of throwing a bit of cloro into the cistern but mostly I forget to do that.Over 20 years, I drank tap water many times, brushed my teeth with tap water and bathed with regular city water. No typhoid, but I did just have to have my gallbladder removed.
nb: I do not recommend drinking tap water
All women are like that. 🤫I would not ask that of a Dominican girl, even joking around. Their mindset is very different than what you are used to.
