Bella Terra Mall - The Invisible Mall

Well today I had to go to Bella Terra Mall to pick up my new insurance card.
I went with another DR1'er who was also picking up his insurance card.

It was roughly a little after 10am which probably explains why the mall was still deserted.
The "Rich and Famous" that go there were probably still sleeping.

The place was like an Oasis, looked great from a distance, a mirage up close.
As we approached many of the "Store Fronts", they turned into empty, unfinished holes in the wall.

As we arrived there, my senior moment memory suddenly recalled that I was actually outside the mall once before, about a year(?) ago when I waited for my wife to go in and pick up her mother's insurance card. It must have definitely been a senior moment back then as I sure the hell did not realize I was in the presence of the great "Bella Terra Mall". As a matter of fact, neither did my wife, in the past year, after seeing signs advertising the mall, I asked if she knew where it was, and she said "NO".

(Note: I only knew where it was from reading this thread)

We walked to the mall after parking at Supermercado Nacional as I don't like parking in underground parking lots for security reasons.

After exploring the mall(?) we got the feeling that it was more likely that we might get mugged in the deserted mall then in the underground parking lot. We made one turn and found ourselves walking down a dead end deserted wing. Very lonely and isolated feeling.

Well, that was our first and most probably the last trip to the mighty Bella Terra Mall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had an "out of body" visiting experience maybe?

especially because he can't see the empty stores.

And here was I looking for him at the desolated and dead as door knob Las Colinas Mall (so said a many around here):

But somehow many here have a lot to say with words, which they can't backup with actual and indisputable visual evidence to the contrary of what I post...

Oh my! Look at all those foreigners and expat (which are the only ones able to afford the prices at these malls in the DR) strolling about and (GASP!) buying stuff!!!

Care to share those pictures? What? Not even your cell phone's camera could do the job?

it doesn't count if you take pictures of malls on the opening night of anything - you know everyone likes a show! or even when a new dominican movie is released. Even hollywood movie theater is packed when a new dominican movie is out!

This Mall is picking up more clients since opening Day till now, than Plaza Internacional did for almost 2 years...

That's a fact to us Santiagueros!

By the time all the stores are leased and in biz, the Mall will be giving Plaza a run for clients...

Why is it that every time these experts on everything Dominican when asked to show a tiny bit of proof are nowhere to be found?

They support their hollow words with more hollow words that only provides fake information here to readers about the DR...

We are still here Pichardo.

What I posted was an ACTUAL experience of mine and you can take it or leave it.

Yes, I have a cell phone with a camera, but it does not have a "chip" and it does not have bluetooth to transfer pictures.

Besides that, unlike you, we don't walk around with a camera in our hands and FEEL the need to justify everything we say.

I don't give a damn if you believe me or not, I posted what I saw at THE TIME I WAS THERE!

And no matter how many times you reply to the SAME posts Pichardo, you will not "brainwash" us into seeing something that was not there when we were there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blah, blah, blah...

So far all you guys have is blah and more blah with little to show for it...

All this aside, 2 days ago, we were at the JUMBO Mall in Santiago and I was pleasantly surprised.
To my enjoyment the mall has finally gotten popular and populated to a good extent.

Could not help thinking how much better it was then Bella Terra Mall at this time.

YES! I am still walking around WITHOUT a camera in my hand and YES, I STILL do not feel the need to justify everything I say and do.

Opss, I guess this account of JUMBO Mall is FALSE also as I have no pictures to prove how much more popular it was when I was there.

Or, do we only have to prove ourselves when Pichardo disagrees with us?

What is worse is, that your depicting glamourous malls is a disservice to people who may believe that those Potemkin villages represent the real DR.

Of course, they do exist but what is your message?

"Proof" = a lot more than subjective, handpicked pictures of people, places and events. Triangulation is our friend. :) On DR1, first-hand accounts, statistics and pictures from a variety of sources collide so that readers can draw their own conclusions.

Even so, your pictures were taken on 1/14...a Saturday, a peak shopping day. They appear relatively void of shoppers to be claiming that you "PWNED" someone with them.

It's reasonable to infer that you have professional ($) and personal connections related to these malls and their promotion. That's OK, we all have diverse interests. And some information is valuable to know about these and other projects. But not overkill on the construction progress or the post-opening "boom" -->

Marketing and promotion are kind of like an object in space. If it's mass is too unbalanced in composition, when it spins it will fly out of orbit.

And it's "Blind" friendly - We don't have to worry about tripping over people

Damn, If I knew Moe, Larry and Curly were at the mall I would have been there in A flash............
I don't think even they could get more shoppers in there.....
But the 3 blind mice do have many empty stores to hide out in on Saturdays...
