Okay, I know hotel choices can be very subjective, but I need help. I'm trying to figure out which property in Punta Cana to go for a long weekend with my girl friend. Any suggestions on what might blow us away without blowing out our wallet?

Punta Cana, because it is a relatively new area, is excellent value on your money. By your email address one would suppose you are in the DR. Check out the local resident prices for the Meli? B?varo, which has probably the best rooms in Punta Cana. Other recommendations are the Riu Palace (probably the most expensive property in Punta Cana), the Punta Cana Beach Resort, and the Paradisus Meli? (if you are very sports minded) and the B?varo Palace. Note that prices will go down after the Easter Vacation week. Club Dominicus, in the nearby Bayahibe-La Romana area, is also a good option because of its gorgeous beach and delicious buffets.

I've noticed that you never recommend Melia Tropical, which is where we are going tomorrow. Any particular reason why?

My thanks to everyone also for messages which were very helpful.

I'll post my reviews on our return.

We do not recommend the Melia Tropical because we have never been there. It is a brand new hotel. We can say that Meli? properties have high standards, so all should be find. Since you will be one of the first to go, post a review on the hotel and its services on the DR1 resort database and let all know your impressions.
