Yep and during weekday lunch times it's usually empty. You can have the AC blasting all to yourself.

We eat out a good deal, here are some of our favorite places in Santiago:

Kukaramacara has delicious food, and a beautiful setting at the footsteps of El Monumento. Price isn't cheap but not outrageous.

Roma is a bit before Union Medica and has amazing prices, stiff drinks, and great food.

KGB. My wife ate there and said it was delicious. I had her leftovers and agree, it was delicious. Nice portions as well.

El Turco is close to Union Medica as well, opena at 5PM and have some of the best sandwiches in the city.

Chago Burger is my favorite burger joint. On La 27 close to Leon Jiminez, close the the Lubri-Cambio. It's not an upscale crowd by any means but they have one of the best burgers I've ever had and the price is right.

SushiYa/BurgerYa is alright, nice sized portions but I think it's a bit over priced for what you get.

SuperRico close to Las Carreras and Juan Pablo Duarte is good, depends on what you order though. Prices are good but it's really hit or miss with the menu. Some items are delicious, some items are very bland.

Holy Tropical near Lovera Bar II is open 24 hours (I think) and has a nice selection of food. The prices are very affordable and I liked their food, my wife didn't like their mofongo though.

Someone mentioned PuntoDelivery, I do not recommend them.

Here's why:

They didn't bring enough change for an order we made and couldn't break the bill. We gave them the bill in full and they agreed to apply a credit to our next order (we used them frequently). The next time we ordered nobody had a record of our credit (hmm...) so we said forget it, don't send the order.

Guess what? The order shows up and they are trying to charge us for it. Great customer service and business practices...

Plus, if you call the restaurant/store directly to get your order the items are a few hundred pesos cheaper than what PuntoDelivery will charge.

is kukaramaca that place in front of the monument with the cowboy motif?

that place is pricey, and the food is excruciatingly mediocre.

Is that the name of the place? I never remember but we do go there often. I like Doms in cowboy outfits it is cute! I dig the food as well but ever since I laid my eyes on Chef Pepper, I can't miss going there when in town!!

@gorgon

Yes, it's the cowboy place in front of El Monumento. I've eaten there a few different times and always had excellent food. I especially enjoyed their appetizer (can't remember the name) which is a tomato hollowed out and filled with mushrooms and melted cheese. Absolutely delicious. They have the best food I've eaten in Santiago. All meals I've eaten there were in the $400-$700 price range which isn't that bad to me.

@shorts

Roma is an Italian restaurant. Good pizza and good pasta. They have a very delicious churassco, my wife cannot resist. She also gets the shrimp on top and it's some of the best I've tasted, seasoned with excellence.

@Harleysrock

I go by Chef Pepper a lot and please tell me if I'm wrong. I look at their prices and the portions and just think it's a rip-off. I've never eaten there because of that reason. Is it worth it?

Well, the only way to know is stop and try it.

I happen to think the portions are more than adequate.

Gourmet it's not.....but for Hamburgers....its the best I've found in Santiago.......better than Burgers Ya....which I refer to as "Burgers Nah."

We ordered Chef Pepper tonight.

It was good food but I have to stick with my Chago Burger as best hamburgers in Santiago. For the size, prize, toppings, and flavor I haven't found anything that beats it.

Chef Pepper's food is good, there is no doubt about it. And I was totally wrong about portion size. The burger was big (1/2 pound) and my wife's steak was big, really big. My daughter's chicken fingers filled her up and we all loved the onion rings.

It was a hundred pesos short of $2,000 so that's pretty pricey for what you get to me. Good food, we'll be eating there again, next time I'm going to try the salmon, I think the meats are a better value than the burgers.

No complaints though, they were super fast with delivery too.

used to go to a small italian restaurant up the road from National...not as far as the cigar park...on the right...all to order...smaller portions but sufficient...decent prices...owner on staff ..
of course as a visitor,i had to wonder how they survived there...but they had regulars...we were...quiet place...right near the u turn to the park...(not the cigar) or leon...
and it always was a little longer time in rest. because of the prep....which i enjoyed...the owner is italian, wifey dom...
