My best guess for the DR in 5 years is that they will have the wall built, the Haitian criminals will be deported and they will have a sanitation system in place so that the DR doesn't look like a garbage dump.

It's a lofty vision but doable.

Maybe the other country comparison poll was more acceptable as next to those countries it elevates the DR making it look like it’s developing when it is in fact in a stalemate. The other countries that were mentioned are going backwards. But these countries here above are in fact developing. In the case of PR subsidized by the US.

Developing more than the DR? Except for Panama, the rest are highly debatable on that front. PR has been going backwards since 2006 and the gap has been closing with the DR in part because the DR has been rising fast and PR has been falling equally fast. I will simply assume you have never been in a group of Puerto Rican businessmen, because no one even questions that for sometime the DR offers a better opportunity. In fact, that's part of the reason that attracted the main Puerto Rican investor of the San Juan Shopping Center in Bávaro. Ever wonder why the name of that plaza is very, very similar to San Juan, PR? It didn't come out of thin air.

Should had been to Israel. On this they have a better track record.

Isn't Israel involved in the Dominican border fence design and construction?

I did once talk to some Puerto Ricans on a short trip to San Juan and I sensed they envied somewhat the DRs independence. I think the point some of us are trying to make is that the failed DR educación system will make the opportunities for growth very limited to mostly tourism hence making the best the DR can hope for to become similar to PR with more US political influence and the US providing technology, goods and services.

If the DR became more similar to PR it would lose tourism. The DR does far better than PR for tourism. After being in PR twice, it is easy to see why.

There are people in PR who are upset by the Bitcoin millionaire policy encouraging what the PR people call gringos whom they want to stay out because they drive out locals from desired properties.

There is a movement by people like aarhus spoke to that want to become independent of the US. Good luck to them if that happens, they could end up more like Haiti than the DR in that case. Some would still prefer that to the current situation.

Don't worry, the DR will become the Silicon Valley of the Caribbean.
