Las Terrenas will be the easiest destination from SD...for you
But this a good one -- VERY small

I'm only looking to make a 2-3 night stay. I'm not looking for a "luxury" hotel and my search is price sensitive. I live in the DR (in the capital) so anywhere is within reach but I'm not interested in Santo Domingo (no beach) or Boca Chica (ugh!). Small hotel means I'm not looking for any of those giant hotels with thousands of tourists; I want something that feels a little more intimate. Goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that it needs to be clean and with a reasonable standard of service.

I have commented before about this place. Nothing new, only prices up. 800 Pesos bowl of soup.Any1 been there recently ?
Looking for a weekend escapade and it looks kind of nice on the website.
Scrolling back it says semi-spendy somewhere, but the menu looks to be ok-ish price wise.
Anyhow would love to hear about it if any1 went recently.
Thanks in advance.

We love that place, can't say one negative word about it.
Truly defines "hidden gem" the kind made from beach Gilligan's Island fantasies.
That said, Patrick's food can never be replaced, but the food is still good.
Very basic, but nice. A great place to go off grid. Give Wendy a heads' up on food and drink preferences, and you'll be golden.Any input on the rooms/bungalows ?
Wife, even though of dominican decent, is swiss#er than the swiss
Hoping to surprise her....... but a good surprise not a bad one !!!

Say hello and scratch the heads of TriCom and Capitan, the two resort dogs that have been there forever.
