Ok. This is it for this round. Use your head. Would you really get in a beat up Kia with a person you don't know (Uber) for a 70 km drive on the autopista.? Obsession with the least expensive option is one sure way to be introduced to the downside of all things DR.

I have taken Uber for some short trips around PC but would never consider it for a long trip on the autopista.

No matter what one might think about the professional taxi drivers in PC, most of them maintain their vehicles. And, can be trusted.

Ubers anywhere in the vicinity of the airport after approximately ~6/7:00 p.m. demand the same fare as the local taxi drivers. Before that time of day they seem to honour the Uber app price.

If you are comfortable driving in DR I would say rent a car problem solved. Plus from reading some of your other threads you will be needing a way to get around if you are going to be out and about looking for a rental. I hope things work out for you here in the DR. As it certainly sounds like you have your hands full.
