An excellent reason to carry ones Cedula at all times to avoid such things. It is required by law.

You could have lost it. Or it is lying at home. I think simply having a DR ID nr should be enough proof.

I found 4 cédulas in the street. All pictures looked like the same very dark skinned human but all had different names. I couldn't make out all the info as I didn't have my glasses. I put them back where they were and left.

A Dominican has never been deported to Haiti. They could be stopped and taken to where the illegals are held prior to being deported. There their cédula ID number is verified if it’s real or not.

Now Haitians deported to Haiti, plenty including the ones claiming to be Dominican but can’t produce a legitimate form of ID. Some even claim their kids are Dominican because they were born in the DR and were given the certificate confirming their birth. The certificate of extranjería isn’t a Dominican birth certificate.
