Big Papi shot in DR?

Women of the Silicone Sally ilk are usually participants in high visibility relationships for two reasons: Money & notoriety. Sally is not a behind closed doors type of gal.

When Papi was admitted to hospital, of course the girlfriend showed up. In her mind it could have been the last chance to grab some public spotlight time and engender some cash later down the road. Not an opportunity to be missed. Luckily she had a new car to arrive with in style.

I am confused wouldn't UGLY Abusador worth a LOT more than David Ortiz if he is indeed the Pablo Escobar of DR ?

Unless Big Papi was more generous to her, it wouldn't make sense to mess with him and risking her life at that.

I am not quite sure, I believe that story.

The rumor was he ( the Abusador) was "done with her" , but he told Big Papi to not continue his thing with her , because it made the Abusador look " weak" or whatever, especially since Big Papi is so high profile and all ..

.. its a macho thing.. ( dont touch my girl, even though she is not my girl any more)..

and imho, oh its very believable ..
some guys are funny like that , even though they may be the Pablo Escobar of their trade

I can go along with that because if Big Papi was messing with the abuser's current main lady both of them would have been dead a long time ago. No current wife/girlfriend of the Abusador would have the nerve to publically screw around.

The real Mrs. Ortiz says something like the shooting makes us realize just how important people are to us. She is right by his side supporting and loving him.
Still no mention in the local Boston news about any of his "side pieces". The press is respecting him and his family.

Very believable indeed and I have this gut feeling the PN top brass knew what the shooting was all about within hours. I still say that was the MAIN reason to get Big Papi on that air evacuation plane and back to the states. If Big Papi was stable what would be the rush to move him. With his big money he could have flown down his private doctor and any specialist needed.

Someone whispered into Red Soxs ears get this guy out of the country. We can't guarantee his safety here.

Now ............. looking into the future what will Big Papi's visits to the DR in the future look like?

Escobar was the same - he didn't like anyone messing with his ex-girlfriends either - especilly someone that was high-profile and would reflect back on him. Like you said - a macho thing.

Easier said than done. Just as in the case with Escobar who had so many politicians, police, and generals on his payroll, he never got arrested and then finally killed until Gaviria was elected and an arrest warrant in the US was issued and the DEA/FBI got directly involved.
