Another shipping question. Lo Siento!

Has anyone used BM Cargo for shipping amazon purchases from the US to DR? I have registered with them, have my number and have shipped my amazon order to the Doral, FL address.

My question is, what now? The site is in spanish and I can translate it but is not clear about each step in the process. My recipient has a number but I'm very unclear as to what I need to do once the shipment gets to Miami. How do the customs issues work, what paperwork needs to filled out? Lots of questions and no easy answers.
Thank you all for your insight.

I use EPS which is similar to BM Cargo. As long as my purchase is under $200 US I do nothing. They send Emails when in Miami and when I can pick it up at my local office. I assume BM Cargo is the same................You should keep it under $200 always...........

Like Sky said above, they take care of customs for you, but they will ask you soon for some verification info. I think all you need is a passport copy. I'm with BMCargo and that's how I remember it, although it was about 5 years ago.

I'm very happy with their service and will continue to use them.

I use BM Cargo. As far as the shipping goes. you do nothing. It's first sent to their Miami address and then automatically sent to the appropriate brank office here. You'll get notifications as to when it's available for pickup.

With BMCargo I always create a PRE-ALERT on BMCargo´s site with a copy of the invoice of the shipment and tracking number when I get it.

Thus BMCargo then has a document with the purchase price.

The site is in spanish
For other things, listen to the others posted on this thread. I have used BMCargo for more than a decade... Nothing but positive feedback...

For the language, simply click the "DO" in the upper left corner of the main menu bar and change that to US, now you have the site in English...

It appears you only get that screen BEFORE logging on.
Once you log on it skips that page.

I have the bookmark calling up the page where I am already signed in.

Another Only in the DR moment. lol

So the page I posted is the public landing page of BMCargo. https://www.bmcargo.com/

Yes, once you login you would be in the customer portal and not on the landing page anymore, so the layout would be different. This has nothing to do with a bookmark per se, as you can bookmark any URL you like, so if you bookmark an URL that is not the landing page, then you end up there.

Not sure if this is "only in the DR", as I think the software they use for the customer portal is universal.... I could be wrong though...

I have already sent the items to the Miami address but I have yet to find a spot on the website for where the package will go when shipped to the DR. Is there a page on the site where you enter the final destination? Does that happen once the package is in Miami?
I have also set up a pre alert.

One normally opens an account here in the DR, so the package goes to the branch where you opened the account. You'll get two notifications - one when it arrives in Miami and the other when it arrives at the branch office here available for pickup.

What Cavok said above + When opening the account you would have been assigned your personal number that is an essential part of the delivery address. Otherwise BMCargo would have no idea who the items are going to. And indeed, when you set up the account, you would choose the branch where the package goes to.

All the packages go to BMCargo near Las Americas airport (or somewhere there where they have their warehouse) and then get distributed to your particular location.

Once you login, you can see your current branch here:

or by going to Your Name - Mi cuenta - Destinos

Your BMCargo account number (xx-xxxxxx) they gave you determines where the package is sent to in the D.R.
That´s why it´s included in the mailing address being sent to in Miami.

Thank you all. I have emailed the Miami location to change the number from mine to the recipient.

I hope this works out for you, but I have no idea what you are referring to with "from mine to the recipient" above?

As I wrote above, you can check the branch you have chosen on your account. As also SantiagoDR wrote above, the code you received from BM upon account creation gives them all the information they (BM) need once they see that code on the address label of a package.

The whole process should really be very simple, BMCargo has even detailed this on their landing page under "

How do you receive or send your packages?"

The BMCargo account number and the name being sent to is a ¨MATCHED¨ pair.

If the person does not have a BMCargo account then you send it to yourself and the person receiving it MUST be authorized on your account with ID, to pick it up. (I´m not 100% positive you can not use someone´s else name). There is a field on your account for authorized persons with ID.

So this may have changed, but previously, we've sent a trusted motoconcho driver with nothing else than the account number to BM (any my name obviously), and they have been able to pick up our packages just fine. Over the years, I have also seen plenty of other motoconcho drivers picking up packages for others, without any issues. I'm not saying it's a bad idea to carry your ID, as it's obviously not, Dominicans usually always carry around their cedulas.

If they'd refuse to hand over a package, a phone call to the account holder has done the trick as a last resort.

So the above if the package is in your name and someone else picks it up, regardless for whom the package is meant for.

BMCargo will ask for a cedula, at least they have done that at the main Santiago office.
Actual experience of someone picking up for me, they were listed as authorized, and me picking up for someone else.
