The Office of the Special Prosecutor for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca) carries out simultaneous raids on several towers in the National District.
The raids are carried out in the Alco Paradisso tower, located on Avenida México, # 114, in the La Esperilla sector, and in Serrallés.
One of the residences searched is that of former consul Víctor Guillermo Librán Báez.
The name of Librán Báez appears in the file requesting a measure of coercion against 10 former officials and close associates of former President Danilo Medina, for alleged embezzlement against the Dominican State.
This is the second time the authorities have gone to his home. The first time they went the residence was closed.
Arrested on Sunday
On Sunday there was a series of raids and arrests as part of Operation Anti Octopus.
Those arrested are Fernando Aquilino Rosa Rosa, former president of the Reformed Companies Patrimonial Fund (Fonper), who was arrested at his residence in Santiago province.
Also the former Minister of Public Health, Lorenzo Wilfredo (Freddy) Hidalgo Núñez, and the former director general of the Office of Supervisory Engineers of State Works (Oisoe) Francisco Pagán.
Carmen is also present, the brothers of Danilo Magalys Medina Sánchez, former vice president of Fonper, and Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez.

The big examples of corruption are no doubt important. But political corruption extends to the much smaller instances as well. Everyone with their hand out needs to have it slapped with a ruler by prosecutors to stop the propensity of hand to pocket payments to get things done that are all to frequent.
