Why not better a Suzuki Gixxer 125?
Better quality built and little vibrations.
You can get one for around 100k or even less if good at negotiating cash deals.
It’s a pretty fast bike and has good ergonomics.
You can get one at 27 Febrero bike shop, close to ACAP building.

They also have the Apache from TVS line. These guys are the importers directly and distribute to other points in the area.
I found the Apache quality a bit flimsy compared to Suzuki. But still is a great value for the money.
They carry those in all colors as well.
I purchased the Suzuki Gixxer and the Suzuki Bergman Street 125 together to negotiate a better cash deal.
The Gixxer is great with long distance remote solo trips and the Bergman is a perfect city bike.

Gixxer retails for about 105K prior to negotiations
And the Bergman for 115k prior to negotiations.
They provide care and service at the dealer and also a limited warranty on both models.
I recommend to switch the tires on the Bergman and sell them on Corotos to cover the new ones.

Nowadays transiting in Santiago by car is a nightmare. These bikes are like mana from heaven for current traffic conditions.
This is only place we found so wondered if there were other places. They only have 1 Apache left with next delivery in May. Thanks for the info!

Imports got hammered big time by the costs increases of containers and lack of availability.
The cost went up double and triple from earlier on 2020.
So importers are consolidating containers by destination. When the vessels are packed enough, they ship.
If you can wait a bit, the new models are coming in. Gixxer will come with disc brakes on back wheel and FI carburation. Apart from minor other upgrades.
Same for TVS Apache...

There’s another spot across the corner from palacio de justicia on 27 Febrero past Estadio Cibao. They got some decent selection of bikes there. Can’t recall if TVS was there. But you can see. Also on Estrella Sadhala about a few blocks after Hache on opposing side of the street on a corner, there’s a small packed moto dealer there.
The Gixxer looks like a nice bike. I haven't heard about it before. Does it have tubeless tires?
They have both.
The older one and the newer one.
Newer one is tubeless and FI, rear brake pad.
The older one is non FI, rear drum brake and tube.
I bought these for my nephew, the engine of his car seized. He used to have motos and sold them after the first car, which also seized the engine... now back to moto...

I gave him the money to get both bikes, he used it to buy a replacement engine for his car...
He claimed he wanted the newer version on both which are out now but not yet here in DR.
Will fix the car and sell it to pay me back and use the extra cash on a bigger cc bike and the 2021 Bergman when it arrives. Same Gixxer larger engine cc.
I figure he will end up with no car again, no bikes and me with no money back
