In a daring act that has shocked the community of La Isabela in Puerto Plata, a Haitian man managed to steal a Dominican National Police pick-up patrol truck. The unnamed thief led authorities on a high-speed chase for over 18 kilometers before being apprehended, 7 Dias reports.
According to local reports, the Haitian’s unusual behavior caught the attention of residents who noticed the police truck being driven by a lone, civilian-clad individual. Alarmed citizens immediately alerted authorities, who launched a pursuit that ended in the La Jaiba community.
The unidentified suspect was taken into custody and transported to Puerto Plata to face legal charges. Meanwhile, the police officers responsible for the stolen vehicle are expected to face disciplinary action for their negligence.
