Will Canadians push back at this?
Certainly Canadian residents living in the DR might.........especially those who received Si No Vac. As they try to return home they may well find that Si No Vac is still not accepted for entry.

Respectfully,

I was thinking along the same lines. Only those rebellious enough to already be out a Canada would push back.
Si No Vac being No Vac in Canada simply exacerbates that situation.

Now, will those in Canada push back much? I doubt it.

To make things more interesting, it seems that Canada will call for a federal election for September 20. As a Canadian Citizen it's my democratic right to be allowed to vote, but since I only have the Sinovac shot I cannot enter Canada without being in quarantine for 14 days. Canada doesn't have online voting. So, if I decide to exercise my right to vote and fly into Canada the week of the election can they force me into quarantine and not vote. I will be calling some government hotline next week to get the ball rolling. There are many of us stuck here (and in other countries) in the same situation. Might be a great story for the media cause I bet the government won't have an answer for me.

Elections (voting from abroad)

If you are living, studying or travelling abroad you may apply to be added to the International Register of Electors. You can then vote by special mail-in ballot in future federal elections, by-elections and referendums.

The International Register of Electors is a database of Canadian electors living abroad who have applied to vote by special ballot. To be included in the International Register of Electors, you must:

  • be qualified to vote (a Canadian citizen at least 18 years old on election day)
  • have lived in Canada at some point in your life
You can apply any time by

Once your completed application has been approved, your name will be added to the International Register of Electors. When a federal general election, a by-election for which you are eligible, or a referendum is called, Elections Canada will automatically mail you a special ballot voting kit.

Thanks Lobo, but that option is too late at this point. To have it sent from my Canadian address to here would cost CAD$110 and then another USD$90 to be sent back. Mailing it here the regular way wouldn't make it on time.

They won’t push against it because the majority wants it ..more pushing for it then against! Nobody wants to go into
lockdown again and see this as way to freedom..

Why would they??? because Canada is full of bleeding hearts and the media loves nothing more than controversy. Singh is actually leading as he is getting the support from the younger crowd.

I only know one person who will not get the vaccine. People I know were clamoring to get the jab. I live in Ottawa, we are at 75% of 12+ fully vaccinated with at least one dose at 84%. It seems, people who have had the vaccine, have no problem with a vaccine passport. It looks like Quebec is setting up for one that allows access to public events, bars, restaurants and gyms.

TRAVEL

Canada to require air travelers to be vaccinated

Canada to Require Vaccines for Air Travelers, Federal Staff

Poll shows leader favourability highest for NDP’s Singh in upcoming Federal Election (18-54 age group).

A recent Abacus Data public opinion poll suggests Singh is the most popular national political leader, with robust support among women, younger voters, and British Columbians.
In recent weeks, Singh’s leadership momentum has had a halo effect on his party’s standing in the polls. Several respected polling firms now show the NDP duking it outwith the Conservatives for second-place support. These recent trends have even led some prominent pundits and pollsters to speculate on whether Singh’s party could win more votes (not seats) than Erin O’Toole’s floundering Conservatives in an anticipated fall election.

JAGMEET SINGH

Today, Mr. Singh is arguably the most popular national political leader, with 38% saying they have a positive view of him, while 26% have a negative view. His image is significantly better among women, younger voters, British Columbians and those with post-secondary education. His standing is noticeably worse than his national average in Quebec and Alberta. Those planning on voting Liberal, Green, and NDP like him, while Conservatives and Bloc voters mostly don’t.

Last place out of three is still last place…ok we will give him participation ribbon!

Gotta like elections in modern times. The government just announced that they are going to deposit $500 in the bank accounts of us old timers. Gone are the days of just getting a bottle of rum for a vote and we have another month of bribes to come. Tax free December is my favorite one so far.
