I just went to Altice main office in Santiago. I asked if I could cancel my 3 Mb down and 1.5 up wifi contract that I have had since they were Orange. I have moved to Cabarete and their internet doesn't work well there. I was given a phone and I tried to talk to the woman at a call center. It was difficult as she was surrounded by so much noise from fellow workers. I couldn't understand after a while and asked for an English speaking person. They said that they would call back and after about an hour someone called who spoke really good English.
He said that it was best if I transfer my contract to a friend. I said that was not possible so he said he could do a three month suspension to my contract and I could start paying again. I said that I had signed up for the fiber optic company in Cabarete and I didn't want two internets. He told me I had to pay over 1200 pesos to cancel.
I was given a number to get dealt with and a really nice girl dealt with me after over another hour. She dealt with it fast, we shook hands and it was all over.
We went down before 8:00am and got home around midday over something that I am sure could have been dealt with a lot quicker.
My wife asked for a couple of hours off work and ended taking 4. These offices don't seem to mind you losing half a days work.

About 20 years ago I had a cell contract with a firm that was only here for a year or two. Don't even remember the name. All of a sudden my bill more than doubled for no reason. I went to the place and showed my bill where calls were billed 3 or 4 times for one call. This guy says I could have called and hung up and called back, etc. And that the bill was right.

So I NEVER paid one peso and called every number I can think of and even gave the phone to my girlfriend for her family to use. This worked for about 2 months before they finally shut it down. Never paid anything and never heard anything. Bill had to be enormous............"Fight fire with fire" I always say................

years ago I had internet with Wind in Santiago. Service was less than poor so I switched to claro. I went to wind office to cancel and they began to give me the run around. I dropped all their equipment on the counter and told them the contract was cancelled and walked out of the office. They kept sending me bills which I ignored until they finally gave up. Haven't heard from them in years.

You are saying someone called you back.....that must have been an overwhelming experience, it can be almost categorized as a miracle!!

There is a minimum time for almost ever cellphone contract (exept postpago) regardless the provider. I guarantee you that you signed up for it. If you try to cancel before this time is up, you must pay some fee to get out or you might face dificulties signing up for a new contract even with a diferent provider. But you mentioned that this contract exists since "orange" so for sureeee this time is up and you have ZERO obligations.

18 months and if during that time one makes any kind of adjustment to their service that resets the 18 months.

I sold a condominium where I had a Claro Internet connection. They will not cancel the contract at just any Claro distributor. You must go to a main office. For me, it is an hour away. Then when I arrive, I must take a number and wait. And wait. And wait.

It is about as difficult as banking here.

In my humble opinion.
Altice is the same unless the lady working the desk likes you. It helps to speak Kreyol!

Yep.
Have Claro fiber-optic.
Contract is 18 months.
Made the mistake of changing a contract years ago
with Wind and leaned the hard way.
I actually just finished the 18th month with Claro in June, now I'm month to month.
Been happy with the service so no need to make changes.
