Smooth and fast, Sunday morning METRO Bus ride though the Cangrejo Bridge detour. Heading to Santiago to celebrated Father's day.

It would be hard to see from a bus ride since they don't go close to the site.
Correct,
On a daily basis it is zero fun in Montellano with detour traffic clogging narrow streets and huge traffic volume.
Have to be lucky to hit low volume, like Sunday morning.
Still zero urgency or professionalism on replacing the small Cangrejos bridge.

Thanks gob.do

And that surprises no one. Imagine those predicting it would be open by December 2023

I've had to make several trips to Pto. Plata lately and I was returning late afternoon to Cabarete. Maybe I was just lucky, but I didn't have any problem at all. The detour adds about an extra 10 minutes compared to when the bridge was there.

I got lucky, a hour after I passed through a 30 Wheeler loaded of rebars rolled over blocking the road. Major traffic jam right now.

I got a phone call from someone I was expecting to complete a construction job for.

The worst bottleneck is the part from the Montellano rotunda to the new Rio Camu bridge.
Very narrow and then vehicles and motores parked along the way.
The road is not made for heavy trucks and large vehicles.

All coast traffic has to pass through there.
That bridge was amazingly build in an efficient manner.

Yet the small Rio Camu Cangrejos bridge on the only coastal Highway after 1.5 years is still not existing.
Pathetic government underperformance, it is obvious they don't care and have zero accountability or professionalism.

No care about Dominicans and North Coast tourism.

:ROFLMAO:
Yeah,
Some people may be beginning to realize that a developing (some say 3rd world) country,
Is not paradise.
Of course with enough coin one can smooth out discomfort or go where there is tap potable water, 24/7 electricity, garbage collection , sewage treatment,
Bridges, roads, transport without having to dream about it or waiting forever.

Divers also know that Sosua is very far from a world class dive destination.
Dip your toes snorkel or dive for dying reefs with sewage.

Good enough for you, enjoy!
We know what we are dealing with.
I'll even be back to paradise for 4 months in winter, go figure. :p

it looks like part of the old bridge is still in the river.. zoom in..
Dom demolition and construction, after 1.5 years,
What do we expect?

Maybe Dominican tourists from the US when driving drunk at 3am will see this pic,
Realize there is no bridge after you circumvent barricades and not kill themselves.

Darwins selection of the somewhat fit, see what happens.
Stop bitching and enjoy paradise, like Falco did.
Who the hell is Falco, Herr Kommissar ??🤣
