It doesn't looks to me it was damaged again, lot of military presences in both sides...

All the metal bridges like that one in the DR were built by Trujillo. They are that old.

Scroll up to earlier posts to see photos. That yellow bar/barrier was hung on the bridge to keep large trucks from using the bridge.

It happened just a hour after I passed through on my way to STI yesterday.
I heard the news on Jose Gutierrez radio show when I arrived at Santiago.

Went to POP today and at 11:00 am it was open with the bars repaired. On the way back around 2:00 PM it was open !

My guess is because it is not directly related to a beach or tourism related renovation project.
POTDR clearly has his priorities.

Do you know that it won't be happening? I hope it WILL be happening in the not-too-distant future, because it is ridiculous all the heavy traffic going around the tortuous alternative route.
