The founder of Dominican stand up comedy (he has said it multiple times that he was watching stand up comedy from the USA via Comedy Central and wondered why something like that doesn't exist in SD, so he founded the Comedy Club of the DR) Carlos Sánchez will have live stand up comedy shows in the following places.

The guy is a lawyer from Santo Domingo (Gascue), but after many years practicing the profession he lost interest after seeing the corruption taking place in Dominican courts and noticing that many lawyers are experts at stalling a case for as long as its necessary until the one suing wears down and decides to settle out of court or gives up the lawsuit entirely. Since a case can be stalled for as long as the party sued has enough money to keep paying for that, often enough he noticed that the winners in Dominican courts isn't the one who is right, but instead the one that has the most money. Many of these lawsuits were on pensions owed by employers to ex-employees and the latter would settle for a much less amount than owed simply because they were worn out and wanted it to end. Out of that profession, he went into other things and has been in Dominican stand up comedy for a few years, essentially the founder of stand up comedy in the DR,

All of these are geared mostly to a Dominican public and will be in Spanish, but non-Dominicans interested can also attend. Tickets to all events are on sale (except the May 13 Queens, NY which is free on a first come, first serve basis; there is a limit of how many people can be accommodated in the place).

Generally, these places in the DR tend to be somewhat far from expat hotspots, but the San Francisco de Macorís show is the closest ro Las Terrenas/Cabrera and the La Vega show is the closest to Sosúa/Cabarete. The very few expats in places like Santiago, La Vega is a stone throw away.

This episode of his interviewing program (more of a podcast) "A Sigún" is from May 2, 2022. He quickly mentions the above in the beginning.

The show is about Iván Gatón explaining what lead to the Russia-Ukraine War and other things.
