"I" am "with it," and he is talking about the violence he "lives" in. The lyrics speak of those other artist, but the chorus is recounting actual events. Omega, if you didn't know, was involved with some shady characters, including his main backer who was supposedly a drug trafficker, who washed money through the band. He paid for the suits, shows, travel etc. and cleaned his cash. Some of these guys carry guns, and there have been reports of gun violence directed at him and his entourage. So I will stand by that original statements. Though the song is up for "musical interpretation and use of violence metaphors," if you read the blogs you will understand.
As for "Rey's" comments, most of today's Pop artists, everywhere, are comprised of a "wee bit of talent, and a whole lot of luck." That is what comprises the music industry and why he have so few SUPER stars, that will transcend generations.
As per the "thug" comment, as compared to Frank Reyes, realize that it is an image created to sell to a certain fan base. That's all. Reyes' "image" is just as important, as Omega's.
As for his fan base, look at his sold out performances at Hard Rock Cafe this year. RD$2,000 per ticket and RD$60,000, RD$50,000 and RD$20,000 minimum consumption tables, meaning that thugs, delinquents, businessmen, the rich and poor, alike, listen to Omega. Just like Kobe's rape, Alex's roid use and Tiger's infidelity, stars, even those on a smaller scale like Omega, can find redemption with "success."
Whether you are a fan of his music or not, or whether you think his public persona is something to scoff at, he is a representative of what contemporary Dominican culture is like, and what they like to listen to.
