Those of us who live here.... every now & then (for me), I need to 'refresh' my batteries

I have no real complaints.... just a 'malaise' sometimes...

A desire to walk thru Whole Foods and buy what I want..
Go to movie (Elvis) one day
Drive my No American car

Je no sais quoi...... just a change

Friday , I blow this pop stand... off for some R&R on the 'other side'

Don't get me wrong - few complaints here == but I get restless occasionally

I drag my Duty Free rum w/ me... and whatever else

Anybody else (residents) in the same boat ??

I get that too, but not for the USA. I would love to take a month long trip to Africa some day. I figure I have about 2.5 years to do that before the old body says going to Jumbo requires 2 month's worth of planning. But I would love to see more of the world than what I've seen so far. Mexico, Belize, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Thailand are other countries I would love to see.

It is always good to "get away" and recharge. Did some shopping at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's this last trip.

US for me b/c I have family there..... and the UK..... a daughter in each

UK daughter prefers to come here....plus, like you, I find the trans-Atlantic trips a bit tough these days.

Africa certainly was on my list - forever - but life got in the way..... I never made it

I am working on trying to get my wife to visit Australia and New Zealand. We have did Europe a few times, almost every country, but Austria and the former Yugoslavia. Most of south America and several in Central America. I am itching to explore more of Mexico as well. As far as the USA , I would like a return visit to Zion Canyon and do the blue ridge mountains.

I have the same feeling at times, but I'm not going anywhere off the island until the whole airline and Covid mess settles down.

I would really like to do a cross country trip in the USA. Also a trip to Dubai and Europe.

Trust me, I know the airlines problem

Got a flight canceled causing me to miss an immunotherapy treatment
Had to return here and start again
Infuriating

Two four hour trips in a couple of days
Four hours one way

Zero desire to visit my country of origin.
Plenty of options to change scenery right here in the 🇩🇴 .
You know the multiple properties I may or may not have private access too.

Been to over 40 different countries on this earth already.
My desire to see other countries stem from curiosity.
And invitations I have received from individuals from other countries that I have met here in 🇩🇴 .

Not from some longing for what was or failing to leave the past behind me!

Very happy on EASTSIDE!!

I have no interest in flying out anywhere for the next year or until this madness is over. Flights are being cancelled, delays boarding and then on the runway, luggage being lost and not found for weeks. It's a mess. I'll keep going to Santo Domingo every few months to get my fix.

Each to their own. Santo Domingo is the last place on Earth I would go for a re-charge. :)

I actually just did that earlier this week. I use it because it's close and when we have major electricity problems due to EDEstupido. It's expensive but it's worth it by not having the aggravation.

Unfortunately, I agree on this. We only go there for something, like papers... We go to campo/beach/walk/you name it to recharge... Even Santiago is sometimes a bit much...

That being said, we need to spend at least one full day in the capital in the next few weeks, not really looking forward to that with the traffic and heat...

I actually agree on this as well, so there are nice places to visit in the capital, and we always eat something there that we could not elsewhere, it's just the amount of vehicles that really is bad... Zona Colonial not recently but different locations in Bella Vista for example... The kids always read all the signs of different eateries and make bunch of reservations where we are to go once the paperwork is done...
