I just learnt about a property owner who has been paying his lawyer to submit his annual property tax. Only to find that they have not been paying it for 3 or 4 years but still charging him. He has now received a horrific bill from the tax office. I was in real estate for 7 years and warned clients of expensive properties to make sure they paid their annual tax as they could receive a massive bill when they sold it. Sadly, I never told them to make sure their lawyer paid it.

He always supplies evidence that the tax has been paid. I strongly suggest you get receipts from your lawyer, and make sure they have changed and registered the title in your name.
