I was just quoted 5000+ paso for Claro their internet phone and cable package in Santiago.
Why is it so expensive?
I thought it was going to be cheaper than that?
Does anybody know which cable/dish company offer decent American channels?

I just opted for a Claro pkg. plan.....
Internet, house phone and an excellent tv pkg with the High Def. pkg.
w/ pretty much all the English (U.S.) channels you would want, including CBS, NBC, ABC....
Price with taxes...about 3700. + -

I was under impression it would be around that much, I don't know what happened here. Since I can't speak Spanish everything is being done by my assistance, and I can't get clear answer. :( Perhaps she asked the best and fastest service Claro offer? I am going to ask them once more time and tell them B in Santiago is paying around 3700 for his services.

What office in Santiago do you go to. I ALWAYS go to the one on Calle Del Solle.
They have several English speaking people there. I always talk to Cesar and he spends whatever amount of time is necessary....
I receive great service through him....He is ONLY there Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I am always in the area, so if it would help I don't mind meeting you there.

i have the RD$5,000+ multiplan from Claro in Santo Domingo with IPTV (no satellite dish). It works out much cheaper than when i was paying the internet/phone and telly separately.
get a few other things thrown in like free calls to certain numbers.
had to tie up to it for twelve months i think.
details are on claro.com.do
don't forget to take all the various taxes into account.

is claro providing the IPTV service out there in the sticks?

the only thing i regret is that i am tied up with the home telephone - i really don't see much need for one anymore. all my family and even the maids have their own cellulars. the only people to telephone our home number now are usually tele-marketers of some kind or another.

Thanks for the help and kindness offer B.

It all was being done by phone. My asistance called Claro direct and asked. Perhaps that is the reason the price is higher? I really don't know. I have never paid more then $100 for phone/internet/cable service even back in state and I am not about to pay $150 for it now. I am going to discuss this further and try to explain it better.

I am in Moca and working right now and I haven't been to my house in Santiago since last week to clean the floors. I have good reason to believe that my container will be arriving this week so I am preparing things. I don't think I could be in Santiago until my stuff arrive or on the weekend to get a slightly better hotel to relieve the stresses this move has caused me thus far.

Perhaps later we could meet some where and have cold drink somewhere along with my Mrs and son. :)

I guess it's the quote for multiplan. I am sorry to ask but what is IPTV???

All I need is some golf, basic English channels, and decent internet. Like you I have no need for home telephone since I'll be using Ooma and our cell phones. And my Slingbox hookup will provide other NEEDS like sports for me and Korean chennels for my wife.

Thanks for the help everybody...
I've looked at claro.com.do and sorted out the mess.
It looks like I'll be getting cheapest multiplan with one cell phone for my wife.
I got unlocked T-Mo phone, so I'll have to activate it on Orange.
